I've was wondering why the new show, #Paradise, has got under my skin. I've worked it out. It's the score. I had to look up the composer, because it reminds me of the soundtrack for the Apollo documentary "In the Shadow of the Moon", and gets me right in the feels.

My weekend project of a hacky little RF amplifier (2W @ 162MHz) seems to work! Killed a few MOSFETs along the way as I never bothered heat sinking them for testing (oops) and some other interesting failures. Need to check matching with VNA still, but output power and harmonics get there!

I do occasional woodworking. Here's a dutch toolbox I built last year. It's a good project for a beginner's toolbox.

I’ve been soldering for years and years and I never knew this existed. This little Surface Mount vacuum to pickup and place tiny components has been a game changer. I’m no longer losing parts that go flying in the void with tweezers.

Testing etched patterns for the edge-lit acrylic in the sides of the truncated icosahedron. Not sure if I like the stars or flowers better, or if there is a better option. Ideas are welcome. Eventually hot glue will help pipe light into the acrylic and make the etched lines appear brighter.

Inside of the hat in under 60 seconds. If you can solder, have worked with addressable LEDs before, and can crochet, you can do this version! Grab yourself some yarn, a string of LEDs, a Pixelblaze, and a battery and get to it! Hat construction is hdc from the top down.

The latest Bus Pirate firmware now supports AnalysIR, popular program to capture, analyze and replay infrared remote control signals. You will need an infrared demodulator and infrared diode, or use the IR Toy plank.

Something that people often report to me as "frustrating" or "doesn't really work" is solder wick/braid such as seen here so I thought I'd share a quick tip on using it better: use flux! It works so much better with flux on the wick; keep the heat on top and press down gently. #MakeAllTheThings

Anyone have an elegant solution for small board to board connections? Only needs maybe 3 pins between board. In this scenario, pin headers don’t really work and want to avoid. These are ~10mm diameter boards.

Here's my simple hack to have a way to remove and replace a PCB and have it in the same spot. A popsicle stick and 2 rubber bands. Had to remove the slide holder first.

Just got my Elikliv EDM4 Max. Very nice, but I had to remove those pesky metal slide holders. The PCBs didn't like them.

I made a PCB icosahedron for a #makergiftexchange, learning a lot in the process. I wanted it to be see-through, so the sides have triangular holes containing etched acrylic pieces illuminated at the corners. Laser cut faux leather covers the outside. A #Pixelblaze controls the patterns.
