If I were to rewatch Max Headroom right now would it just feel like watching the news?

My funny little water spirit

We finally got snow…I needed this! ❤️

@paolobacigalupi.bsky.social my mom just told me you were in The NY Times crossword puzzle and it cheered me up. ❤️

Once there were two little peas…now one of them doesn’t have a mama. This will be my daughter’s first funeral. 💔

Farmers Almanac sure gets it right

David Lynch now??? This year already…😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔

Sitting in my grief awhile, because I know there’s no way around it.

I don’t think I can take any more loss this year. First our dog and now my beautiful friend. Brandi, I don’t have the words right now, but I promise I will find them. 💔

Our sweet girl is gone. Our hearts are in pieces. There’s never enough time. 💔

I’ve been awake since 4:30 am trying not to think about the fact that we have to put our dog to sleep today. She would be 14 on Monday. She’s going to get a big celebration and for a little while we will try to pretend that everything is alright. Then we have to tell our daughter it’s time. How?

Didn’t have my readers on- thought I saw lavish flatbread on the menu. Of course it was lavash but lavish sounded so full of promise. The possibilities are endless. Someone open Lavish Flatbread and give me all the decadence. I’d try that in a heartbeat.

When I was a kid the year 2025 hung over the horizon like a big shiny sci-fi promise. Now that it’s here I wonder what the horizon holds for my daughter. What will she see? Come get your big shiny dystopia? I fight hard to show her something beautiful.

Just a reminder as we start a new year that you’re never going to fit perfectly into someone else’s box, nor should that ever be your goal. Unless you’re a cat.

“This is the last day I let myself eat like this,” I promise myself between bites of York peppermint patty and cheese. Lying through my teeth…

What are some things you do to help get yourself out of a creative slump?

I have faced fascism before, in this very country. I was one of 120,000 Japanese Americans summarily rounded up and expelled from our homes at gunpoint, all for the crime of looking like the people who bombed Pearl Harbor. I spent my childhood behind barbed wire. My parents lost everything. 1/

My brain: Coffee sounds like a good idea! My stomach: You just had two cups of coffee an hour ago. My heart: Pleaaaaaase…😭

According to my 11 year old daughter, it’s not the nineteen hundreds and we didn’t even have electronics when I was a kid. For reference, I am almost 52. So I lived with the dinosaurs and stuff…

I’ve been listening to Songs of a Lost World nonstop since the day it came out. ❤️

Well so far I have failed Inktober. Unexpected death, sick kid, and busy school schedule have completely derailed me. I don’t know if I’ll try to catch up or just find my own inspiration next week. We’ll see.

My Inktober isn’t getting off to the best start but I’m going to hang in there. Still rushing through playing catch up. #Inktober2024 boots

Found it!

An embroidery animation self embroidering. I gave this one a background, just linework on another layer so it’s not too distracting

Can someone direct me to the #Inktober2024 prompts? Now that our power is back on I’d like to catch up. Thanks! ❤️

WE HAVE POWER!!! ❤️😭

Fourth day no power but eternally grateful not to have lost my house or entire town. Going to find a shower today and count my blessings.

Funny, our brains are so used to basic life structure, certain things are automatic reflexes. Third day no power- I still instinctively reach to turn on a light, still glance at the oven panel to check the time. Opened the attic for Halloween stuff…oh ya, it’s pitch black up there. 😂

So many trees down in my neighborhood, it looks like a war zone. I heard our neighbor’s tree fall as well as our friends down the street, whose tree hit their house. Heard the transformer explode at 3am and lost power. Hearing it might be a week before it’s restored.

Looking forward to spooky season with a whonky little drawing. #inkdrawing
