Not an SJW, dislike righties more, alas. Had way too much drama in my life when I was a rightoid and now I'm much more focused on cultivating virtue, helping others, and enjoying life with my friends. Cute animals, good food, mecha, and videogames for me.

As Trump promised, the Alien Enemies Act will be invoked. The law is a wartime authority that can be only used against any noncitizen from a country at war with the United States, regardless of whether they are in the country legally or not. Its use for immigration enforcement purposes is unlawful.

The NYT article blaming Zelensky for annoying Trump was wrongheaded and I thought it needed a response. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

The thing about American reactionaries online is that they’re like “under a true Christian monarch, the West will flourish with the enlightened guidance of a philosopher king…” and it’s meant to justify supporting a senile gameshow host and a drug-addled manchild who cheats at Diablo.

they both went to the same hair salon

everyone seeing how when you takeaway the DEI the planes start falling out of the sky

Consoles should have never gotten cheap enough/society so prosperous that you could afford all of them. You have one console that you buy that you form an unhealthy complex around justifying the purchase of, as god intended. Pick a side, damnit.

MSNBC worries about the perception that they’re not fair to R’s while Fox eats an $800m libel settlement to preserve its ability to lie about Ds. That’s the asymmetry that gives illiberalism a structural advantage. open.substack.com/pub/readtpa/...

Videogames are pure and beautiful and innocent, unfortunately guys who make their entire personality playing videogames are not

Just found out this guy who is an incredible bigot along like every dimension also doesn't like half life 2 (cos of the Vance family) and, like, yeah that does make sense I guess, but still. Still. One would like to think there are limits, that decency has some purchase.

Shifting away from this rhetorical move or overall narrative was a genuinely puzzling decision on the Harris campaign's part. It tapped into something real and was a decent springboard for contrasting with them in a way voters connected to.

A case study in how affluence and middle-class boredom can poison the soul.

Unless overcome, blue state NIMBYism is going to grow Republicans' electoral college advantage and price millions of people from targeted populations out of the opportunity to find sanctuary under anti-MAGA legal regimes.

tech company donations overwhelmingly go to Dems! frequently they go to Dems at the left edge of the party! begging people to understand this

this is a really fascinating document. i think you should read it. cdapress.com/news/2025/fe...

Lists of people who have previously fallen for scams are hugely valuable, because fraudsters know that they are likely to fall for scams again. It’s common to target former victims. It’s called “reloading.”

Good morning Bluesky!

France looked at 1940 and decided they were going to work to make sure it didn’t happen again. We looked at 1945 and decided it made sure we’d never have to work again.

finished avowed last night people get MAD at your big decisions in ways that feel so good; there's no "optimal" way to play this game, you just gotta navigate a shitty situation and find your peace with the outcomes, and i love it

It’s disturbing when you realize the world-historical moment we find ourselves in is mostly the result of one petulant little man’s inability to mature past adolescence.

a shutdown is better than a bad deal.

A fight is brewing between the Boer and government and military leaders correctly telling their employees not to respond to his stupid email.

During the early Obama years, the Republicans made a big deal about how the government getting involved in healthcare would lead to government "death panels" that kill grandma Now it's "fuck grandma, let her starve"

Actually I pay my taxes so these government employees can do the jobs that our elected representatives decided they should do. Answering emails from a South African neo-Nazi who hasn’t slept in four days is something else

feel like a bunch of NatCons do not realize that if they thought milquetoast liberalism was the cathedral, they're going to hate the Reconstructionist Liberalism they're going to cause

Broke: Republicans are bad. Woke: Actually, it’s structural factors. Bespoke: No, actually, the GOP is a uniquely satanic organization and JD Vance is the antichrist.

The axis of evil used to have a rather simple ideological reference point of being anti-west, but now it’s just “no ideology, we just really fuckin love murder”

Saw a cybertruck and my son asked why Elon Musk would think that looked good and I said "remember that drug they gave you at the hospital when you broke your arm, and you got scared and said everyone had 4 eyes? he takes that all the time"

People are pushing back at town halls with GOP members of Congress. Federal employees who have lost jobs are speaking out. Let's keep it going! PUSH BACK.

the thing about Trump being this staggeringly cooked is that he's not really in a position to save Elon from the consequences of his own actions

I wrote back in 2022 that if Trump is reelected, democracy will not fail all at once, but in red-state pockets, one step at at a time. Like, say, this place in Idaho. www.theatlantic.com/newsletters/...

I’m sorry but I’ve never been able to get into the intricate world building of Frank Herbert’s novels. He was just Dune too much.

I’ve got at least six on the record GOP House no’s, including one to the President who “didn’t take a position” on the budget resolution.

issue with “hire more conservative professors” is that they don’t mean “hire a smart guy who happens to think taxes should be lower”, they mean “hire a movement conservative”, and these days there are multiple litmus tests for being that type of person that are “insist this false thing is true”
