Fewer people know that he wrote a little bit of music that did NOT feature the piano, like these entertaining string quartets, smacking more of Haydn than any other style. 🤠

Easy to confuse them since they have many commonalities other than the Traverso, but Danzi & Devienne were it! Devienne showed up in London for Haydn. Nicely played here!🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Arriaga Music history is replete with composers who died way before their time. Two years before his own untimely death, the 18 year old Arriaga wrote these 3 string quartets. The ideas and structure are replete with the sorts of things that hint at greatness.

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Violin_Concertos A rarely heard Schubert piece tops off 3 violin concertos from guys who would have been the cream of the crop in any era not dominated by Haydn, Mozart & Beethoven! Walffisch is a really fine fiddler who does these pieces justice!

Either way, some of the more interesting 'Phantastic' music was top shelf secular instrumental music.🤠

When Salomon bargained with Haydn for the rights to the London Symphonies, this was why! 🤠

I have always enjoyed this rather early realization by Leonhardt and am doing so now. I am open to recommendations for an alternative, as long as it isn't on any sort of piano... 🤠
