#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Dussek I guess you know what end of my shelf I'm organizing now! On Dussek's chamber music, one of my favorite groups, Trio 1790. After listening to the quartets, and now the trios, it makes me wonder why Dussek didn't compose more chamber music. Very nice. 🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Dussek Many of you know Dussek's piano music, he was famously admired throughout Europe for it. Fewer people know that he wrote a little bit of music that did NOT feature the piano, like these entertaining string quartets, smacking more of Haydn than any other style. 🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Beethoven One of my favorite realizations of the 9th, great playing and solid singing by chorus and soloists. Have a great day!

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Biondi All the names from Corelli on, this album is full of them. And Fabio is... well, a fiddler extraordinaire. Anyway, if you like Italian music from the first half of the 18th century, you can't go wrong. 🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Hautbois Back when these were written, the oboe was a much more important instrument in the orchestra than it would become a half-century later. And people wrote really nice music for it, like these guys here. Il Gardellino is excellent, as always!🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Devienne In the period from 1790 to 1810, there were two names that seem to dominate flute music. Easy to confuse them since they have many commonalities other than the Traverso, but Danzi & Devienne were it! Devienne showed up in London for Haydn. Nicely played here!🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Matteis Ayres for the Violin must be quite a thing in its entirety! I have another disc, still in process of being hunted down, with an entirely different repertoire, or so I recall. Again with Beyer, you'd think I like her playing or something! 🙄🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose For reasons known only to himself, Mozart entered his sonata K 545 in his worklist as 'A Sonate Facile'. Actually, it's not at all easy except for listening purposes! By and large, the rest of these works aren't easy either. Early Classic. Nice! 🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Biber Enjoyin' me some Biber, amazingly played by Manze, this time with the help of a strong continuo. This is surely some good music! 🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Benda Bohemia produced more than its share of world class musicians in the 17th and 18th centuries, and the Benda Bros were certainly among them. Franz was a famously fine fiddler, as is Anton Steck, interpreter on this album. 😎

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Arriaga Music history is replete with composers who died way before their time. Two years before his own untimely death, the 18 year old Arriaga wrote these 3 string quartets. The ideas and structure are replete with the sorts of things that hint at greatness.

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Tartini You might rightfully think Tartini is all about concertos, but he wrote a mean sonata too! Manze kills it, playing without continuo through some very engaging and technically demanding passages. Doubtless worth a listen! 🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Florilegium Frederick the Great was a dedicated musician in his own right, so it stands to reason he would have the best musicians in all the land working for him. Florilegium (the Elvis Costello of 18th century music 😉) do a superb job of bringing this music to life! 🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Early_Classic Some of these people, like Hasse and Graun, you rarely hear anything but orchestral or Choral music. Turns out they also wrote some nifty little sonatas for keyboard. Schornsheim brings out the best of them!🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Violin_Concertos A rarely heard Schubert piece tops off 3 violin concertos from guys who would have been the cream of the crop in any era not dominated by Haydn, Mozart & Beethoven! Walffisch is a really fine fiddler who does these pieces justice!

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Bach_CPE I don't know about you, but I can hardly think about CPE Bach without conjuring up a parrot in a blizzard. That said, Amandine Beyer does a great job here with Edna Stern, realizing these unsurprisingly very fine sonatas. 🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Bach_CPE Somehow I had missed out on the oboe when I was exploring CPE Bach. Pity, I wish I had known these before! This is a great band, and Xenia Löffler is a fine oboist!

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Beethoven Along with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland has maintained one of the finest orchestras in USA. I have several of their recordings spread out over a couple decades, this is a fine example! 🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Tartini The Devil was a popular subject back in the evil old days, based either on his alleged facility on the fiddle, or maybe all the free PR he got from the Church. Either way, some of the more interesting 'Phantastic' music was top shelf secular instrumental music.🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Haydn On the subject of Symphonies becoming Chamber Music, this splendid set of Haydn's Piano Trios for Flute includes Symphony #94 arranged for Flute, Violin Cello & Fortepiano. Unquestionably this was not intended for any stage excepting the one in your home!

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Haydn Even though the popularity hasn't carried down to today so much, in the late 18th century, symphonies were among the many large works that were played in the home and salon. When Salomon bargained with Haydn for the rights to the London Symphonies, this was why! 🤠

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Haydn A decade before Haydn ever set foot in England, his admirers were already legion. Several were prominent local composers. When Haydn released his XII Lieder, they immediately seized the tunes, set English poems, and just like that, "Haydn in England" was born!

#classicalmusic #MyDailyDose #Bach_JS Seems like everyone and their 3rd cousin has recorded the Well-Tempered Clavier. I have always enjoyed this rather early realization by Leonhardt and am doing so now. I am open to recommendations for an alternative, as long as it isn't on any sort of piano... 🤠
