We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines. The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds. It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.

Rescuers have freed a Humpback Whale entangled in ropes at a Skye salmon farm. The rescuers said the rope was wrapped around the whale's head and left fin. The rope is believed to have snagged on a heavy duty chain anchoring a mooring buoy to the seabed. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

We cannot borrow (or tax) our way out of a crisis caused by the failure of those pricing properties (including their owners) to take climate reality into account. The scale of overvaluation is too large, and public funds are desperately needed for programs with actual widespread public benefit.

Heartbreaking. We had just learned she had another calf after her loss. Just a few weeks later, she’s lost this one too. Frustrated with writers describing this as “apparent” grief. It is not anthropomorphism to know kinship with wild animals and grieve a common pain… to love our children.

Yup. City planners literally printed this in an apartment open house I went to in Vancouver. An apartment as a “shield” for rich homeowners, from arterial noise and pollution. Hundreds of apartment renters used as human shields.
