Lucky for Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland that they aren’t in a union with England like Scotland otherwise they couldn’t have passed their own gender self-ID laws The sky didn’t collapse on any of those countries btw

In case you forgot (how could you!?) today is Dundee Pride! Don’t let a little drizzle stop you from demanding LGBTQ+ rights and equality, and from having some fun! All details here 👇 www.dundeepride.com

Peter Krykant was a hero. He saved lives and shamed our politicians into action. Without him, even more lives would have been lost. Rest in power, Peter. www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/peter-k...

Think of this when you see those fancy graphics today explaining how the Acorn carbon capture project “works”

Today was a great day for Grampian Pride. Fantastic to see so much solidarity with the Palestinian people and support for climate action. The history of our community is one of shared struggle and determination, like our support for the miners strike. We can and must build a better world for all.

Eid Mubarak! Wishing everyone a happy and blessed Eid al-Adha.

The tireless work of local campaigners has saved some libraries across Aberdeenshire from the cuts. They should be commended. The loss of Boddam library is a big blow, though. I know how much it was loved and needed. www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/aber...

Out of office is now on. A week to spend time with friends and family. I just hope the weather defies expectations!

Lithium is an increasingly important resource. However, we need a transition that is rooted in climate and resource justice for communities. We can only transition to a secure and sustainable economy when justice is at the heart of the process. This is NOT that. www.theguardian.com/global-devel...

The restoration of Denburn could help to mitigate flood risks and assist our wildlife to recover. I hope Aberdeen City Council keep this project alive. Those with deep pockets, it’s time to step up and help your city. Let’s get this done. www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/aber...

NEW ANALYSIS: UK's solar power surges 42% to a new record, after the sunniest spring on record * For the first time, solar was >10% of UK generation in consecutive months (April/May 2025) * In 2025, solar has already avoided gas imports that would've cost £600m www.carbonbrief.org/analysis-uks...

Krishnan Guru-Murthy: "I mean, there's a pattern here is the trouble, of you saying things and Israel saying things that turn out later to be untrue. And that's clearly what's happening here as well" David Mencer: "So that is what Hamas want you to think" "It's the facts"

Watching a @channel4news.bsky.social interview with an Israeli spokesperson. The spokesperson, David Mencer, has attacked the UN, falsely accused Krishnan Guru-Murthy of antisemitism, and denies every fact put to him. Channel 4 News, please keep doing your job. We need the truth more than ever.

GET VOTING 🗳️🚢 Many communities need a levy on cruise ships, including Aberdeen. @scottishgreens.org want to see our communities thrive. This will help to pay for infrastructure and services used by both passengers and locals. Vote YES in the P&J poll 👇 www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/6766...

Today marks the first day of Pride Month. Whilst there are reasons to celebrate our progress, there are many more reasons to be concerned. We stand in solidarity with Pride organisers across the UK. The decision to ban political parties at Pride events needs to be a wake-up call. Our statement 👇

These statistics shame our politics. No child should have to go hungry. No child should grow up in poverty. We shouldn’t just reduce poverty. We must eradicate it. The UK government can start by scrapping the two-child benefit cap.

🧵 REVEALED: Community energy projects in Scotland are generating 100x more local wealth than privately-owned wind farms. But just 0.5% of the renewable power is community-owned. Why this staggering imbalance?

Thank you to @dis-ppl-protest.bsky.social organisers for inviting me to today’s protest. The services @abshirecouncil.bsky.social propose to cut are vital to disabled and elderly people. These cuts to public services need to stop. Thank you to Janet, Fiona and all others for their work on this.

I'd (of course) disagree that the SNP will be the left voice vs. Reform. They've moved to the centre & aren't tackling crises that people desperately want sorted like housing, care, & public services. Greens must shout from the rooftops about these & move to broaden the issues folk trust us for.

Tomorrow our co-convenor @guyingerson.bsky.social will be joining @dis-ppl-protest.bsky.social in protesting Aberdeenshire Council’s cuts to disability services. We cannot continue to see cuts to core public services. If you can, please join the demo tomorrow morning!

A large part of this development will be for the assembly of rig mooring equipment. Specifically, anchor assembly. Whilst this is easier at quay, it isn’t necessary. Certainly not worth losing such a special place in our region. St Fittick’s Park must be protected.

Today has been great for our city! Tens of thousands of fans lined our streets this afternoon to see the Aberdeen FC players in the city centre. 🔴⚪️ After 35yrs, it is time to celebrate! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Our City.

Whole city is celebrating the Dons win. Mon eh Dons!

EXCL: New research has highlighted the precarious financial position of many Scots, revealing that significant numbers are just one unexpected bill away from crisis. www.scotsman.com/news/politic...

Huge thank you to everyone who counter-demo’d the fascists today ✊ No place for hate in Aberdeen! #UnitedInDiversity

I’m concerned that we haven’t learnt lessons from the Marischal Square development. A friend who visited recently commented on the sheer number of shopping centres. Many units within these lay empty. Do we need another, or do we need a new public space? www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/aber...

Attempting to drill baby drill our way out of an aging basin with a decreasing rate of production and enormous job losses over the past decade - despite huge government support - is doomed to fail. Our response to Donald Trump’s illogical intervention today:

Across the North East, core services are facing cuts and closure. Libraries, nurseries, health and social care services have all been affected. Next year, we need to elect progressive politicians who’ll take action to reverse these cuts. Enough is enough. www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/aber...

These figures should shame our politics. Next year, we need to elect people who understand our community’s priorities. Not politicians who vote for cuts to social housing, our colleges, and our councils. We need people who will deliver the change we need.

This is ridiculous. If this guidance is followed, it will likely lead to very distressing situations and outcomes. The EHRC are actively harming trans people, women, and our society as a whole with this nonsense. How can anyone ask about someone’s genitals in a way that isn’t rude and offensive?

With apologies for the Telegraph - how will MSPs justify being the most anti-trans parliament in the UK? This should shame Scotland www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/202...

50 families now hold more wealth than 34 million people. Billionaires have seen their average wealth skyrocket by 1,000% since 1990. It's time to tax the super rich.

I’m excited to be co-convening the Rainbow Greens again. This will be my third term and my second working alongside Emma. As we look to the Scottish Parliament elections next year, our members' voices, your voices, will be at the forefront of what we do.

Whilst there are aspects of this deal that are welcome, such as the removal of trade barriers on food and drink, I am concerned about what this means for some Scottish fishing communities. In the North East, many of our communities feel forgotten and marginalised, and Reform UK feeds on that.

🚨 Scotland’s climate progress is off track — and time is running out. The Scottish Government must act now to deliver fast and fair climate action in 2025. 📢 Let your MSPs know you want action: sccs.eaction.org.uk/climate #ScotlandUnitedForClimateAction

Today is #IDAHOBIT day and it isn’t one I’ll be celebrating. The UK is becoming a more hostile place for our community. Pride organisers across Scotland are responding by telling politicians they are not welcome until they act. These are some of the actions they could and should take 👇

Thousands of people in the North East could have had the chance to work in our energy transition. Other areas that could have benefitted from proper college funding include hospitality and health & social care. Our MSPs instead voted for cuts. Shameful. www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/politics/...
