This has to be the second angriest unicorn I've ever seen.

Watched Hitchcock's Rebecca (1940) and accurately guessed the twist fairly early. Then I was flabbergasted that the film made that a happy ending still.

February Updates 2025 Hello! I wrote out some goals for 2025 in my wrap up of 2024 in Review. And then I added to those goals in my Of Plans & COVID post... So anyway, off to a great start. Here's how my projects are coming along and general life thoughts for the first few months for the year.

This is a huge “call your reps” moment. Dem, Rep, doesn’t matter. Kill the bill.

Accidentally rewatched the Saboteur (1942). I'm not mad about it. It rules. The film fills me with patriotism (in the good way)! The lighting alone is worth the price of admission.

A very large number of geese just flew over my house. It sounds like a goose themed horror movie out there. THE HONKENING.

Adventures in book donations: I know this was supposed to look scary but this cover goes hard. The graphic designer knew the assignment.

If we can't sleep peacefully, they don't get to sleep peacefully. Don't call your republican reps because you think you can convince them. Call them because fuck them, they don't get a free pass on this shit.

If you run a newsletter for education groups and you mention AI anything -- I'm unsubscribing. I don't need to know anything about the hallucinating plagiarism machine. Talk to me when you have an actual use case for your technology beyond theft.

The IRS is expected to fire upwards of 6,000 employees as early as today. This will mean fewer audits for rich tax dodgers. According to U.S. Treasury estimates, the top 1% underpay their taxes by $163 billion every year.

Weird Shows to Drink Cough Syrup To I could do a whole blog about each entry of what I watched for the last couple of months. However, I don't want to forget or leave anything out. So here's some quick thoughts on several things. Being super sick really helped make me sit down and focus on some…

Does anyone have cyberpunk video essays they like? I've watched a few that deeply troubled me in that "Am I really stupid or have a lot of people completely missed the plot?" way. I need to read more written works too but I'm listening while doing other tasks today.

The world is on fire but I am going to cross the 50k word count this week on my current project. My overall goal was 60k, so I'm feeling confident about hitting that by the end of the year(though it's gonna end up being longer from my plotting notes when it's done).

My writing assistant is helping me with these new pages this morning. #Rizald

I think a lot of my personal tastes would determined by watching too much Time Fighters at an impressionable age and imprinting on the villain trio. youtube.com/clip/Ugkx-6W...

Of Plans & COVID Typically I try not to make any big resolutions for a new year. I've mentioned it some in the past, but they just make me anxious about meeting unrealistic goals. My health, for example, is continuing to get better at a slow pace but one that works within my long term goals. So…

Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons: -We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S. -The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous. 🧵⬇️

Tried SEGA Bass Fishing as a joke and it's amazing? The voice acting sells it.

I actually wish the media would stop using "DEI" and "diversity hiring" and just get to the essence of the thing and ask: "Are you saying that this crash was caused by desegregating the races?" And see what happens.

The real "DEI" was capitalism the whole time!

Them: “So what’s your book marketing strategy?” My book marketing strategy:

Do you know why a president would do all the most evil and heinous shit via Executive Order? Because his party can't easily make it law. And if they can't make it law, they can't make it last. Don't let anyone make you feel like this is The End. Do not let them demoralize you. Live to see them die.

Authors of #booksky, explain your story badly: A wizard's road trip puts him in legal trouble with a worm that forces him to take a quest with a middle school art teacher.

We have come to an arrangement about writing this morning. He naps and I work.

Hit my word goal for my novel project!

Me to Me: I should focus on just one project and finish it. Also Me: We should open 12 tabs and work on everything all at the same time.

Continued Frankenstein Thoughts I finished reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. In an earlier post entitled "Frankenstein or How I Learned to Stop Fearing the Monster and Love the Gothic Horrors of Transhumanism the Modern Prometheus", I had yet to read the novel that so many adaptations were…

Making the updates to my TTRPGs but... I sort of want to sketch out my soap opera RPG. I should probably play some more non-fantasy games to prep. Does anyone have some game recs for games about feelings?

Just realizing how many Twitter links I put into my old TTRPGs. It's gonna stink to remove & update all of those. All well, they needed a 2.0 update anyway.

"But the Field Manual asserts that “purposeful stupidity is contrary to human nature” and requires a particular set of skills. The citizen-saboteur “frequently needs pressure, stimulation or assurance, and information and suggestions regarding feasible methods of simple sabotage.”"
