What is happening nationally on bike lanes and slow streets leaves Sacramento in the dust. Our completed and planned projects are still incredibly dangerous and just lock in unsafe conditions for cyclists and pedestrians.

Opinion | No one could’ve predicted that Trump would do this

Policymakers obsessed with happiness always ignore one of the most important, direct, and immediate things that local and state governments can do to improve people’s lives

It’s amazing that the personal moral cowardice revealed by this article (though long starkly evident) would pale in comparison to what her silence indicates just two weeks later. www.politico.com/news/magazin...

Just spitballing, but things that could happen today: *Court injunction protecting USAID *Dems demand hearings on Musk's role *Someone introduce articles of impeachment *Dem officeholders go to USAID offices with USAID workers *Refuse to conduct any more Senate confirmations until this is resolved

I’d love to see this in CA. I think in Sacramento the focus should be on closing streets to car traffic entirely now, but this would also be a great tool. I like the points about equity in areas without sidewalks - huge potential there in Sacramento as well.

NEW: 2024 has just been confirmed as the warmest year on record, and the first to breach the 1.5C threshold. We used a ridgeline (Joy Division inspired) chart to visualise daily temperature anomalies since 1940. 2024 clearly stands out with 100% of its days above 1.3C and 75% above 1.5C.

Thanks and congratulations to these Councilmembers, all the advocates, and especially the ATC @dongibson.bsky.social for getting 6 key steps funded! Onwards

We love a good skyline shot in which rice silos feature prominently

Time to redesign the 1960s regulatory-proceduralist approach to civic engagement that magnifies inequity, undermines democracy & public trust, privileges the status quo, and breaks the capacity of governments to deliver the results & outcomes we vote for.

My favourite superheroes are Spiderman since he has all the powers of a spider, and Catwoman since he has all the powers of a catwo.

Can’t believe Christopher Nolan is doing a remake of O Brother Where Art Thou

Just after last weekend's tornado warning, an SFPD officer driving too fast for conditions struck and killed a pedestrian near Bayshore & Industrial. The unnamed pedestrian is the 39th traffic fatality of the year, a victim of car-focused streets and police impunity.
