A couple of early-stages on hazel found this afternoon at Burbage Wood, Leics. Leafmines of Paracrania chrysolepidella (though I only found vacated mines, usually still tenanted around now), and larval feeding signs of Nemapogon clematella on Hazel Woodwart fungi. #vc55moths #teammoth

Delighted to still discover new arrivals from the other place over here, such as my former office mate in Leeds, fellow plant ecologist @jpeacock06.bsky.social.

Good morning.

Out of Norfolk for a day or two, in the exotic surroundings of South Cambs. I came across this Ischnomera cyanea on a tree trunk, which is nice cuz there aren’t many records from Norfolk.

An amazing encounter with a nursery pod of Risso's Dolphins today on our Shetland Nature tour, while out off Noss with @thenossboat.bsky.social - as ever, exemplary boat-handling by skipper Phil with the animals' welfare always at the forefront. And yes, that's a bonus Puffin!

I don't remember seeing this gall before. These pustules on Pear leaves are caused by a gall mite, Eriophyes pyri. Found on plants at the Grapes Hill Community garden this evening.

As an American in London, I will be buying British meat. I’d rather support the British farmers and I’d rather not poison my family with god knows what will pass as ‘safe’ in the US
