They launched a coup, suffered no consequences for it, won back power, and have used the power to pardon everyone involved while remaking the country through violence and intimidation. It’s just ridiculous to talk about the political violence of yelling at ICE agents within that context.

nervous to go to protests? Don’t be. They will be peaceful family affairs. Go with a group, peel off if anything makes you nervous, don’t stay to the bitter end. This moment calls for all Americans to express their rights. And when some cannot, it’s important for others to stand in their place.

Governor Tim Walz doing an unbelievable job here after the violent loss of a colleague.

Has a single Republican come forward to denounce the politically motivated and deadly shootings of lawmakers in Minnesota?

I don't see how representative democracy can work if representatives live in permanent fear of violence against themselves and their families.

For awhile I thought Lincolnshire was the Alabama of the UK but no... it's county Antrim. Hard to think any less of Northern Ireland's "patriots". www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

When someone bleats about "two tier policing" in this country. I'll point to America, which is currently flooding democratic cities with heavily armed ICE agents.

Why do I get the feeling Trump will be disappointed when the National Guard won't shoot their neighbours. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

something funny is that a lot of the conservative think tanks are convinced that they can strike the "woke" out of universities because they see educational polarization and think this was a conscious choice instead of what happens when high-trust educated people congregate

I miss what Twitter was. Too much of my adult life - work, friends, partners - has been bound up in it not to. But that Twitter doesn't exist any more. *Twitter* doesn't exist any more, and X is a hellhole and even if I could put up with that it'd suck because most people I want to talk to are here.

Really Cool how nobody wanted to take this shit seriously

NEW | On BBC News bending over backwards for Reform… BBC NEWS AND THE REFORM REALITY DISTORTION FIELD The BBC wants to 'restore the trust' of Reform voters by changing its news output to better reflect their worldview. brokenbottleboy.substack.com/p/47-bbc-new...

Reform only has one MP more than the Greens so presumably there'll be similar plans to appeal to Green voters. No? Oh, you astonish me.

What you saw from Trump in CA this weekend was not law enforcement. What you saw was a test of ways and means for Trump to disrupt and pervert the 2026 elections. My latest in @theatlantic.com www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Two LA photojournalists have been shot with tear gas canisters by DHS HSI, including @acatwithnews.bsky.social who was directly targeted by HSI and struck in the head. Sean is en route to the ER with obvious facial injuries. He was conscious and talking when he left the scene.

Before 2018 there were no small boats so the answer is simple if you want to get rid of small boats, rejoin the EU and have legal methods for asylum seekers

What if the answer to national decline isn’t top-down reform, but bottom-up power? Communities aren’t broken, they’re just waiting to be trusted. Stephen McNair takes a look at a new report. #PowerShift #PoliticalRenewal

🔴‘Keir Starmer’s Timid Refusal to Nationalise Failing Water Companies is a Symptom of a Government Cast Adrift’ Starmer’s administration is proving itself to be “devoid of moral compass or political courage”, argues Labour MP @labourlewis.bsky.social bylinetimes.com/2025/06/06/t...

Without Privatisation it would be impossible to spend huge amounts on Public Services and then simply watch it disappear to Tax Havens as the Public Services collapse.

The interim report for the Government's "largest ever" review of water was released yesterday, but public ownership was ruled out from day one. Without that, it's just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. There's something larger at play here.

Labour’s growth agenda used to be almost entirely green infrastructure. Then it was housing for a bit. Now it is clearly defence manufacturing. Listen to me and @pippacrerar.bsky.social break down what today’s defence review means here: t.co/dVHQ8UxAma

It’s really time in British politics we had a discussion about how political elites remaining on X are being exposed to increasingly extreme/fringe views but are completely unaware of it.

They preach “love thy neighbor” on Sunday, then vote to deny that neighbor dignity on Monday. Worship the Prince of Peace while cheering for war. Say “God is love,” but weaponize faith. For too many, it’s not about living the teachings, it’s about using the language to justify power and control.
