Been enjoying the Occult Crescent in Final Fantasy XIV, it's downgrade from Bozja for me and has it's flaws but it's exactly the sort of content the game has needed for yonks. It feels more like an MMORPG when so many players are constantly active at once in the same zone working together.

From the @cullodenband.bsky.social show on Monday night. This was an experience and a half. Organising, promoting and headlining a show all by ourselves for the first time in six years and it all worked out. Onto the next show!

Playing a headline show for the first time in 6 years tonight if you're in Newcastle tonight and fancy some Heavy Metal come to the Little Buildings

Well looking forward to this, got a bit of new material being brought out for this.

The Oblivion Remaster and Expedition 33 have been two of the most enjoyable games I've played in a good few months. Been in a bit of a slump since Dynasty Warriors Origins dropped because that game was THAT fucking good it raised the bar big time for me

Played a gig in Gateshead, first one with @cullodenband since December and just so happened to be the day of the Toon's Carabao Cup victory celebrations so getting here and home was a nightmare on the metro. WORTH IT THOUGH. So glad to be back playing our history themedHeavy Metal music live

Went to the Netherlands last week to see Tobias Sammet's Avantasia a band I've adored for a long time and it was every bit as magical as I could have hoped for. Tilburg and Den Bosch are also stunning places!

WE ARE NEWCASTLE UNITED CARABAO CUP WINNERS #wedontdoquiet

So. Dragonball Daima. Man, that had so much potential and loved the first part of it, felt like "GT done right" but the story gets muddled, plot holes start forming like pot holes, and its all crammed into 20 episodes. Seeing Super Saiyan 4 again was awesome though, even if it was brief.

Clip from Tuesday, recording vocals for one of the new @cullodenband.bsky.social tunes in the studio for the upcoming EP

Small clip from the studio, recording a new Culloden EP!

The story behind this is, pretty shit tbh but, I'd say this is a better gig for us than supporting a legacy band. I'm half a mind to explain the story on here, its all over my personal FB but here? I'm unsure. Might come back to bite me if I do.

It's been just over a month since our last show and we're not back onstage til March, with all our time dedicated til then, in the studio for our upcoming EP. This is one of my favourites atm based on a succession dispute turned civil war during the Norman times of England.

Got some riffs started last week when I was having a catchup with our guitarist, and I feel I have a great topic right here to put them to. Keeps the Newcastle/North East History vibe going!

Just finished Genshin's 5.3 patch. Killer, as always. The story (worldbuilding, foreshadowing, lore especially), characters, music and the region scenery always deliver with this game. Glad to see it doing well still

Couple of pictures from the @cullodenband.bsky.social gig in Newcastle earlier this month. Was quite a big test for this new ESP bass. Its much heavier, the neck is longer and well it plays differently all together than my Rickenbacker 4003 which I've used for every gig for the last 6 years so far!

We are Culloden, we're a Heavy Metal band from Newcastle our songs are about North East English history. Our sound is a mix Venom, Bathory with a touch of Saxon and we've even had some comparisons to Manowar and Cirith Ungol before too.

Do you like Heavy Metal? Do you like English History? Both of those things come together with Culloden. We're very Venom inspired, our sound is like early NWOBHM with a touch of first wave of Black Metal added onto it with my vocals.

War of the Rohirrim was brilliant, once again terminally online culture warriors were totally wrong about a piece of media. Its got its flaws but none of it has to do with it being "woke" if that's even a valid criticism of anything anyways. The animation itself seemed a bit... off.

At Byker Grave in Newcastle today and to finish off the night is Venom Inc. First "official" iteration of Venom to play Newcastle in decades. Depending on if or not you count Abaddon's band playing here every now and again.

One of our best received live songs is this one, Lindisfarne based off the Viking raids in CE793 that signalled the beginning of the Viking Age here in North East England. If you like it tell your friends and see if you can get us booked somewhere near you!

It's not the bass I ordered as the good folk at Thomann mixed up my order and sent me a 4 string instead of a 5 but I'm genuinely considering keeping it and making do as the 5 string version of this is now out of stock and I cba to haul it to a drop off point

So I've made a bsky for my band, seeing as other bands and musicians are now using this platform I thought I'd give it a go too. If you like oldschool metal check us out @cullodenband.bsky.social

One of my favourites from the original batch of songs I wrote with the lads over the years that I love to play live to this day.

O ye. Birthday today. Almost forgot tbh, but ye officially halfway through my 30s now. Shall be enjoying some games and will out for some pints later.

Fuckin hell, 5 months since Dawntrail hit! I'll admit I've barely played. Not because I hate FFXIV, I've just been enjoying single player games again more often whenever I'm in the mood for games. But I've played enough of it to have a solid opinion on it.

Gamer problems

Typical Tuesday night for me down at the local. Jukebox full of 80s metal bangers and some quality ales. Love this place

One of the other gaming highlights for me this year was FINALLY getting off my arse and playing through Lost Belt 6 Avalon le Fae on Fate/Grand Order. Fucking hell what a story this was. The quality jump from the rest of the game which is canny, to this which is top notch. Fucking wow man. So good.

Still feeling great after finishing YS VIII again, YS X was sublime and tbf a better game worthy of respect but VIII feels like a love letter to 90s RPGs and the soundtrack really helps set the tone and emotion for Dana and the tragic fate of the Eternians. Plus she's my new phone wallpaper.

Its been an amazing year for RPGs/JRPGs I'd say by highlights have been Persona 3 Reload, respectable update to a classic. Ys X has been my game of the year, and Metaphor comes close to that too Genshin/Star Rail are smashing it atm Dawntrail is decent Wasn't a fan of the new WoW expansion

I need a proper TV unit so I can play games without these fatties eclipsing my view. I don't have the heart to move them as they're so comfy!

Just done another play through of YS VIII Lacrimosa of Dana and what a game. Just wow. Still holds up well. Soundtrack is sublime especially for the Eternia sections of the game

The idea Bluesky is ONLY an echo chamber for left-leaning folks who've had enough of Twitter is daft. A lot of us of varied political views came here because its better here, simple as. Though I've not seen any fash but still. Plenty of conversations are happening of all sorts, just go look for them

That, was absolutely class. A very simple but effective old school feeling JRPG. Another banger from the YS series. No complaints!

Studio pic off last week, doing the bass was so much easier than I thought, glad I actually sat down and practiced to the guides and click tracks!

From an exhibition in the summer at the Discovery Museum. My childhood all in one display ahaha. The 90s were canny tbh, Life began again just after the shitehawkery of over a decade of T*ries selling off everything that wasn't nailed down to private hands which we're still paying for today here.
