The aggressive marketing and shouty mascots are why I don’t use Duolingo. This is a genuinely bizarre marketing strategy, and would be a disturbing thing for a person to do.

My contractor put in the last window (but not the trim on the outside of the house, and did not finish other stuff), said “see you on Monday” and then never came back or returned a call.

I rarely have students ask, but if the essay says what it needs to, i don’t penalize about that margin.
comment in response to

Definitely. I’m talking more about essays that are lacking in content. It’s usually a good place to start a conversation about how to cover a limited topic completely, use evidence, and explain said evidence.

I tell my (highschool) students now it’s a super power. Very useful when student try to pad their word count with invisible text. I *know* what 800 words looks like, and I KNOW when there are not 800 words on the page.

My sister told me today that’s because it’s higher in carbs and those carb chains get turned into sugar in our mouths. Which is not bad. It just is.

But if you’re J. K. Rowling, you can try really hard by releasing your whole background head canon and then also telling people what you wish you had written instead of what you did write…

I bet Gwyneth Paltrow has a bespoke throw on her couch made of whatever the softest animal hair is. No label, just a distinctive weave in the fabric that is only hand-woven in one place on earth.

My theory is that people who love AI think writing is what you are saying, not how you say it. We get it. You hated your high school English teacher.

When I was five my mom gave us tapes with the stories and music of composers, and around age seven I painstakingly copied the portrait of Bach from the cassette case and my mom framed it and hung it on my wall.

It especially gets you 300 billion dollars if you also buy out all the competition to where you might as well be the only player in the field.
