Why'd we organize @standupforscience.bsky.social ? Check it out below in @naturehumbehav.bsky.social @cdelawalla.bsky.social @samschuelstein.bsky.social @emmalovesscience.bsky.social @leslie-bern.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s41...

New #scipol starter pack just dropped. Message to suggest additions or have yourself added! go.bsky.app/HjpXQp5

I know we keep having to repeat it but every single Democrat in the Senate voted to confirm Rubio

Universities should deny entrance to private spaces on campuses unless there’s a warrant signed by a judge, not an administrative warrant signed by ICE. You do not have to let ICE in to private spaces with administrative warrants.

This is a very good point. Do our university presidents have the courage to do this? Faculty should push them. The time is getting short. Musk and Trump if not stopped will kill American academia. Just look at what Republicans did to New College in Florida.

Science enthusiast since 2020. Happy birthday Maple June bug! @standupforscience.bsky.social #maplejune

This will be a huge deal in Ithaca and surrounding upstate NY areas (where I’m from!).

Well done, Philly!! Even @maddow.msnbc.com said we were impressive. Excellent work standing up for science! #standupforsciencephilly

Please read the stories of these amazing scientists, the work they do to keep our food supply safe and stable, and make sure everyone in your life knows that this crucial work is being gutted by this administration and that needs to stop. @altusda.altgov.info @altnih4science.bsky.social

So proud of our community for standing up for one another and all of our futures. A special thank you to our amazing speakers for sharing their stories. @isakoditomassi.bsky.social @emmascales.bsky.social @alexlando.bsky.social @cindyleifer.bsky.social @hannaherf.bsky.social @altusda.altgov.info

Experts explain why scientists must commit to engaging with the communities they want to help at all stages of the research process — from planning to dissemination https://go.nature.com/4i6BuJx

Steve Parker, professor of Computational Medicine, writes to NC ⛰️: “The stunning landscapes & kind-hearted people make this place magical” but a looming threat to federal science funding could undermine both their health & economy. 🧪🏠 @theparkerlab.bsky.social www.reflector.com/opinion/edit...

It would all be very unpopular if you could convince people it was happening

March, make calls, take action. Whatever you’re able to do to fight for research, to fight for all of our futures, to fight for all of our loved ones. @altnih4science.bsky.social @standupforscience.bsky.social @sipsadvocacy.bsky.social

Donald Trumps two biggest strategic allies appear to be Russia and cancer.

Thank you @davelevitan.bsky.social for helping to amplify the impacts of @altnih4science.bsky.social cuts

Rep. Al Green is a goddamn hero.

Dear universities, scientists, lawyers, farmers, workers, artists, doctors... Being silent won't protect you.

I work in agriculture, but I did study political science in college, and maybe I misunderstood but I kinda thought politicians worked for the voters?? And should care about their concerns? I’ve never said to a boss “I will be canceling our future meetings, thank you.”

@cornellasap.bsky.social @sipsadvocacy.bsky.social my fellow scientists and I will not stop fighting for our colleagues at @altnih4science.bsky.social @altusda.altgov.info and all the critical research our community does

Fantastic. Very happy to see @aspbofficial.bsky.social involved in this! #plantscience

One thing that all scientists can do now: Cancel the Washington Post. Bezos is intent on using it to help Trump. They just added rightwing Salena Zito fm DC Examiner. Subscribe to news sources run by journalists, not billionaires—like the Guardian US, Philly Inquirer, TPM, Slate, and The Prospect.

We love to see a SE PA @sciencehomecoming.bsky.social piece from a plant biologist 🙌

We are experiencing an assault on science unparalleled by anything I’ve seen in my life. It’s not one issue or another anymore, the entire institution is under attack by the most powerful individuals in the country. This Friday, where will you be? standupforscience2025.org

Funding cuts will impact everyone and have already hurt so many, stopping farmer assistance programs and cancer research. Plus, universities and healthcare systems are among the largest employers in almost every US state, and we’re already seeing hiring freezes. cornellsun.com/2025/03/01/h...

We're Standing Up for Science on March 7th, in DC & Nationwide! The future of science is bright, but we need to protect it—because science benefits everyone. More information: www.standupforscience2025.org ☀️⬇️📣

The Department of Ed has a form to snitch on DEI policies in schools. I’d be a shame if we broke it with thousands of responses… enddei.ed.gov

Happening today! Rain or shine!

"... Ask yourself: What’s important to me? What do I care about, what have I benefitted from that I want to pay forward? Then look for ways to spread help and hope." An oldie but goodie by @pronounced-ing.bsky.social for @teenvogue.com.

Ok mental health break, shall we? We offer you a floof as unimpressed as us. This is a fennec fox, Vulpes zerda, the smallest fox species. We chose this photo not only for the vibe, but to show their feet -- extra furry to avoid the scorch of desert sand in the Sahara, where they live. Enjoy!

Trump announced plans to cut 65% of the EPA’s staff.

Another #naturalhistory collection may be orphaned. Paleontological Research Institution in Ithaca, New York ("top 5 such collections in the country") @corriemoreau.bsky.social estimates PRI has produced more female paleontologists than most other institutions www.science.org/content/arti...

I’m a scientist working on dark matter and neutron stars and I wouldn’t be who I am today without Langston Hughes, Duke Ellington, Haile Germima, Toni Morrison, Jane Austen, A.A. Milne, Errol Morris, Star Trek, Herman Melville, Lorna Simpson, Edward Lear, Tina Turner, and so many others.
