A tour de force study from Taipale&Yin labs. It expands the vocabulary of the Regulatory Code by adding 1131 TF:TF composite motifs that are different from the individual TF motifs. The new composite motifs are enriched in cell-type specific elements and active in vivo www.nature.com/articles/s41...

On my way to Oxford - thank you to @whitefishlab.bsky.social for the invitation to visit the Ludwig Institute! I still have such fond memories of my summer internship with Rich and Len Zon at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute! It’s been great keeping in touch across the years and many milestones 🐟🔬🧫

Many congratulations Wendy!

I am hiring for a research technician role in my new lab at UC Irvine studying how transcription factors control cell identity. If you know any graduating undergrads or postbacs looking for a position, please spread the word! Apply by May 9 for full consideration. recruit.ap.uci.edu/JPF09594

We released our preprint on the CREsted package. CREsted allows for complete modeling of cell type-specific enhancer codes from scATAC-seq data. We demonstrate CREsted’s robust functionality in various species and tissues, and in vivo validate our findings: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Deadline is Monday 28th.

Want to work with us on DNA methylation and rare genetic disease? Fully funded PhD project with deadline 16th May: www.findaphd.com/phds/project... Excited to collaborate with @hannahlong.bsky.social and Daria Bunina (@uoe-igc.bsky.social/@mdc-berlin.bsky.social). Please share 🙏 #epigenetics

📣 Don't miss a fantastic PhD opportunity with ‪@sproullab.bsky.social to explore DNMT3B genome recruitment and alterations in rare human genetic disease using human differentiation models. I'm excited to collaborate on this project along with Daria Bunina. Apply now - deadline 16th May! #epigenetics

What a fantastic meeting and forum to discuss our latest research! Special focus on enhancer function, chromatin modification and how 3D folding of chromatin impacts enhancer action. All in the context of cell fate decisions in development, differentiation and disease 🧬📍🔍

I’m pleased to announce that I have now officially started my research group at the University of Dundee, UK. My laboratory focus on how transcription factors orchestrate epigenetic reprogramming in mammalian embryos.

What did the two amino acid substitutions in #FOXP2 that occurred uniquely in the human lineage do? 🧪🧬 🧠 Fascinating new @cp-cell.bsky.social study by @shadys11.bsky.social D. Jarosz & J. Wysocka, uncovering a molecular function for these 2 substitutions in promoting the solubility of FOXP2. (1/n)

I am incredibly proud to share that my work has officially been published in Cell! @cp-cell.bsky.social This work was a product of years of dedication and countless hours of research in the labs of Joanna Wysocka and Dan Jarosz labs @stanfordmedicine.bsky.social www.cell.com/cell/fulltex...

This is a super-interesting, though speculative, paper from Adrian Bird. He is challenging the prevailing view that the protein cohesin organizes chromatin for functionality (transcription) by creating loops that allow genes to access their regulatory regions... www.cell.com/molecular-ce...

#PhD available with @surfinnurd.bsky.social & me: physics, stem cell bio, struct bio & bioinformatics will reveal molecular changes which activate a major chromatin remodelling protein at microsecond resolution -> control activity in stem cells & control cell fate lsi.exeter.ac.uk/groups/hendr...

Very excited about our next week’s Epigenetics conference in Belfast. 1.5 years in making, but very happy with the result: amazing scientific program, and a fully booked event. Looking forward to inspiring science. @gensocuk.bsky.social @biologists.bsky.social

Terrific opportunity to work in a top developmental biology lab in beautiful Edinburgh!

So many proud PI moments over the last couple of weeks! @kirstyuttley.bsky.social talking about her exploration of 3D locus conformation and structural elements at the SOX9 locus at the #hiddencelldarkgenome conference. And flash talks from Hannah Juellig and Kasia Milto!

Unheard candidate genes for deafness-related syndromes Read this Research Highlight showcasing work from Ramya Ranganathan, Andrea Streit and colleagues @ccrb27.bsky.social @kingscollegelondon.bsky.social: journals.biologists.com/dev/article/...

The Hidden Cell, Dark Genome conference has got off to a flying start! We explored the regulation of genes, exciting RNA diversity - micro-exons and where does transcription start - and what are small peptides translated from ‘non-coding’ RNAs doing? How amazing our genomes! #hiddencelldarkgenome

What a fantastic public lecture by @katarney.bsky.social last night about the 'Dark Genome' and the amazing things that happen when evolution and chance alter enhancers to impact spines on fish and digits on hands. What an great prelude to the #hiddencelldarkgenome conference starting today!

“Bluesky has won”. Please retweet… 😉

exciting news for our scientific community! www.nygenome.org/news-events/...

Hannah's lab does amazing work, do consider joining her and come work at @uoe-igc.bsky.social in beautiful Edinburgh.

📣 We are advertising for a postdoc to join our team at the University of Edinburgh! Our lab studies gene regulatory mechanisms in development, and how genetic changes may impact these processes to alter development and shape human craniofacial form and function 🧬🧪
