This is what's so baffling about so many suggestions for AI in the humanities classroom: they mistake the product for the point. Writing outlines and essays is important not because you need to make outlines and essays but because that's how you learn to think with/through complex ideas.

Someone once remarked that Romney won the 1960 election in 2012, meaning he solidly won the white guy vote, which would've been adequate then; I think Harris won the 2008 election, meaning the campaign was excellent for those conditions that are no longer our conditions.
