uhhhh it looks like Dems just flipped a R+17 Pennsylvania State Senate seat in Amish country…

American foreign policy used to be nonpartisan (or bipartisan), which allowed for continuity in our relationships with allies and enhanced our soft power. We won't be able to rebuild alliances until Trump has exited AND both major parties are committed to a shared vision of our place in the world.

IMO, NATO will dissolve within a year, but a new alliance will take shape. It will not include the US or Hungary. Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, and Turkey are TBD. Other current members are likely to join. The big question is if Ukraine is offered membership and what the path would look like.

www.cnn.com/2024/12/18/p... McCarthy and his allies probably saw an opportunity to twist the knife now that Gaetz has resigned from the House and subsequently lost his bid to join Trump's cabinet. The oldest truism in politics is to kick them when they're down. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

I'm curious why Russian artillery losses have declined so much in the last month Could be: - Russia keeping its arty out of range of drones and counterbattery fire (although they should still be vulnerable to ATACMS) - Russia suffering ammo shortages - Ukraine suffering ammo or drone shortages

www.huffpost.com/entry/donald... Was there really ever any doubt? His administration will be entirely about feeding his own greed and narcissism. He'll throw a few bones to the donor class as well, but working families will be SOL.

Confirming what we all knew: A study by the American Marketing Association finds Republicans far more likely than Democrats to spread misinformation for political gain. www.ama.org/2024/12/09/s...

I have mixed feelings about Hunter's pardon. I think it was ultimately right on the merits but worry about the optics. Any time a president pardons a relative or associate, it raises eyebrows. Trump will no doubt cite Biden's example when he abuses pardons for himself and others starting Day One.

Starting in January, Republicans will control all three branches of government. They will own ALL of the chaos and corruption that follow. It's up to us to repeat this fact ad nauseam daily between now and the midterms until even the most disengaged voters know it by heart.
