Subscribe to @defector.bsky.social because this comment under a blog about mid-tier regional sandwich is the most heartbreakingly beautiful Internet writing I've seen in years defector.com/primanti-bro...

new record?

A stupid op-ed? By Cruella Laverbread? In the Telegraph? My gracious, whatever next.

today i have been emailing a very famous french restaurant critic (all will be revealed soon) and the experience doesn't disappoint.

ok this is a prize i would have *dreamed* of a few years ago - money! library time! editorial support! British Library X Vittles Writing Fellowship !!!!!!! apply! @vittles.bsky.social @britishlibrary.bsky.social fs12.formsite.com/obk2AX/fello...

Just an incredible show. Partly because it wraps up exactly where it makes sense to - not cancelled too soon, or stretched to six seasons because of its success.

I wrote about my brother Charlie’s final 48 hours, and his increasingly desperate attempts to track down an emergency supply of medication from the NHS. It’s an upsetting read but one I’m proud of. He’d be delighted to have made the @financialtimes.com magazine front cover: on.ft.com/434zZqn

This beautifully written and important piece by @madisonmarriage.bsky.social about the inquest into her brother’s death, after an unbearable wrangle with NHS services to get his epilepsy medication, is free to read today and I can’t recommend it highly enough on.ft.com/434zZqn

This is such an interesting interview about Scottish food and (a more niche interest, I know) restaurant criticism @vittles.bsky.social www.vittlesmagazine.com/p/in-scotlan...

This is an evergreen call for pitches - and it is a great one for writers without major bylines. Please share with the bartenders, delivery drivers, cater waiters in your life

Progress thunders on - just when you'd almost got used to cancellation fees, here come minimum spends (including at Gymkhana) @joshspero.ft.com @bryce.lol on.ft.com/4i6q4oE

Only a few more weeks of @timhayward.bsky.social reviewing restaurants for us before he switches to the food writing beat. And this week's review is as Tim as Tim comes: a review of a single bacon sandwich eaten in a cabbies' cafe 🥓❤️‍🔥 on.ft.com/43b9OOK

I was just sending this piece to a writer and thought I'd reshare it here as well. It's a beautifully-written and very unusual essay from an atypical wine expert. One of the few bits of personal writing we've published in the mag on.ft.com/4142XUP

is the new bridget jones too sad for me to go and see by myself? real question

theory a) huge plate of salami appeared in a very convincing dream the writer had post-interview b) subject is about as vegetarian as Pam in Gavin and Stacey if you know what happened here PLEASE DM me

Not going to claim direct causation but this advert appearing the week after an NHS trauma surgeon warned London Centric about the risks of Lime bikes was interesting!

I edited this fascinating dispatch and - not to brag - I reckon i understand The Economy now. Lesson #1: If you want to make a quick buck from a booming industry, don’t grow a plant that takes 7 years to mature. Like an Uber turning up 3 hours after surge pricing started. on.ft.com/4jT3T7b

Update from this restaurant: the waiting list is now over 1000 on.ft.com/4ieDwaf

I ordered this all the way from Canada and I’m not sorry. By Heather Buchanan

£5 to drink wine and look at charts in a legendary City church. if you've been chatting up a hedgie on the apps, now is your chance to suggest the perfect first date.

This is such a gripping read from John Phipps…. Confessions of the world’s most elite sober coach on.ft.com/3WEp3fa

Watching Traitors US as a sorta methadone

‘My first job in journalism was based out of an underground car park in Beirut’ is a sentence I’ve doubted more and more every time I’ve said it over the years, but a friend just sent me this photo and yes. It was real. We used plastic picnic tables as desks.

One of my favourites for the ages… by the excellent Monica Mark on.ft.com/3E7A6r0

I’m just a girl on a poorly timed holiday to copenhagen, propped up on an ironing board in front of the TV, asking the internet connection to stabilise #thetraitors

last year I saw no qualifying birds. not a single one. the only way is up.

is louis theroux a) great at interviewing b) merely great at saying oh nooooo i honestly really don't want to ask you about the thing everyone wants to ask you about 🫣 do i havvvve to 😂help me outttt here 🥴 what even is sex

Loved this from the brilliant piece about Shanghainese western food by @fuchsiadunlop.bsky.social We are forever taking delicious ideas from around us. www.ft.com/content/20ab...

A recipe that, I felt, deserved reposting

This ragu contains no tomatoes (!) and in fact no liquid (!!!) other than what the onions release as they cook down. It is absolutely delicious. With all thanks to @greenmirandahere.bsky.social for pointing me towards Ida on.ft.com/40FvFfQ
