'Before the boiler lift, the tanks and cab had to be taken off in the workshop. The only thing that couldn't be taken out was the boiler due to its size. This picture was taken 2 nights before she would be wheeled out to the yard for the life by crane.' #L&P #Portethwaite #OCs

Running between passenger schedules, trains from the quarry would keep crews occupied. This rake includes P.O wagons at the front full of lime, with 3 railway-owned wagons full of lime, and a final one filled with raw limestone. Also seen is the railway's unique 6-wheel brake van. #L&P #Leakbeck

When #5 was trialed, they fitted the bare essentisals: Side buffers, Air equipment from #2 and hook draw-bars. The name chalked on the side was done in Australia by workmen from that area. When tests to Hardbrooke were satisfactory, they gave her lining, a crest and the new name 'Astraios' #L&P #OC

C&DR No.151 "Foxglove". Built and modified by Anstis Works for the purposes of the fledgling railway company. It arrived with an order of bogie'd tenders (pictured) to go behind the railway's first batch of 'Myth' locomotives. Foxglove would become the basis for LLW's 'Fable' class of 2-6-4Ts.

The original boilers on the Swan "Specials" were ill-suited to the UK climate, and almost immdeiately after shipment, new boilers were sent out to customers to fit to their engines. This proved a nuisance, but also a lesson in the design's assembly. #L&P #ocs #portethwaite #leakbeck

1916. Anstis Works 2-8-0 'Valencia', leaves its right of way after being struck down by a traction engine near Waiteside Castle. Being rented to the railway rather than sold to, the L&P quickly got rid of the engine, and it would end up being sent overseas. It's future unknown #L&P #OCs #waiteside

Lined up outside the engine shed and the ageing carriage shed. The L&P's original steam engines taken in the 70s, including authentic liveries and overdue proposals for paint. #3 "BIA" is the only one in steam, and was used to pose #1 "BRIGITTE" on the North shed road.
