Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.

Acosta: He is, essentially, a part-time president who has delegated the presidency to Elon Musk. And the question folks are going to have to start asking—and I think they already are—is: What the hell did we vote for here?

Democrats must make clear that, of course, we believe in changing government for the better - and show how different that is from Trump's destruction of government's capacity to protect workers, consumers, and families.

Trump ain’t making it 4 years if we not even 2 months in and it’s this bad

“(It) is not my job to decide that I don’t like a law,” “It’s to presume that the law is Constitutional, and to defend the law.” - Liz Murril Actually, wrong.

Catching up for Days 13 & 14 of #BlackHistoryMonth. Let’s honor Johnny Cochran & Carl Douglas. #LawSky

On the 12th Day of #BlackHistoryMonth let’s honor Derrick Bell, a pioneer of Critical Race Theory who challenged racial injustice in the law. As Harvard Law’s first Black tenured professor, he fought for diversity and equity in legal education. #BlackHistoryMonth #LawSky

On the 11th day of #BlackHistoryMonth let’s celebrate William H. Hastie, who became the first Black federal judge in 1949. A civil rights advocate, he helped shape the strategy that led to Brown v Board, mentored Thurgood Marshall, and played a major role in military desegregation. #LawSky

On the 10th day of #BlackHistoryMonth I’m inspired by last nights stunning performance by Southern, so let’s honor Southern University Law Center Professor Angela A. Allen-Bell. Professor Bell was pivotal in ending Louisiana’s Jim Crow-era non-unanimous jury law. #LawSky

The #SuperBowl is so aggressively Louisiana and I love it

On day 9 of #BlackHistoryMonth, and with all eyes on New Orleans, let’s honor New Orleans native, Homer Plessy, who challenged Louisiana’s segregation laws by refusing to leave a ‘whites-only’ train car, leading to the case, Plessy v. Ferguson, which upheld ‘separate but equal’ policies. #LawSky

There’s nothing like Southern University’s Human Jukebox #superbowl #BHM

On the 8th day of #BlackHistoryMonth we honor an often overlooked pioneer of civil rights. Claudette Colvin was 15 when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger, 9 months before Rosa Parks. Her arrest led to the landmark case Browder v. Gayle striking down bus segregation. #LawSky

On day 7 of #BlackHistoryMonth, let’s celebrate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, who made history in 2022 as the first Black woman on the U.S. Supreme Court. Her brilliance and dedication to justice will inspire future black women in law for generations. #LawSky

To catch up for days 5 and 6 of #BlackHistoryMonth, let’s celebrate brothers Charles Henry Langston and John Mercer Langston. #lawsky

On day 4 of #BlackHistoryMonth let’s celebrate Constance Baker Motley, the first Black woman appointed to the federal judiciary, the first Black woman elected to the New York State Senate, and a top lawyer with the NAACP. She argued 10 cases before the Supreme Court, winning 9. #Lawsky

On Day 3 of highlighting Black contributions to U.S. law and the legal profession, let’s honor Eric Holder, who on this day in 2009 made history as the first Black U.S. Attorney General. Mr. Holder also served as the first Black Deputy Attorney General. #BlackHistoryMonth #lawsky

“Outrage. Outrage. Outrage.”

Absolutely true.

By the way, this is very fun for me. I love learning new things and the research for this is awesome. How did I go to an HBCU for law school and not learn about Marcus Allen?

On Day 2 of honoring Black contributions to the U.S. legal profession, let’s celebrate Macon Bolling Allen, who was the first Black man licensed to practice law in the U.S. and later became the first Black Justice of the Peace. #BlackHistoryMonth #LawSky

"Nowhere does the Constitution authorize the federal government, much less the president alone, to 'promote patriotic education.'” That order, like a second one, "walk the edge of violating the Constitution, including by delivering Trump’s preferred brand of indoctrination." [Neal McCluskey]

Donald Trump’s Black History Month Proclamation directly contradicts his earlier anti-DEI executive orders.

To kick #BlackHistoryMonth off, let’s honor the legacy of Thurgood Marshall, the first Black Supreme Court Justice. Marshall argued against the separate but equal doctrine in Brown v. Board of Education. His lawyering and leadership helped to desegregate schools.

In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, I’m celebrating the incredible contributions of Black Americans to the legal field. Every day in February, I’ll be sharing stories of influential people and events that shaped our legal system and paved the way for justice and equality. #lawsky
