I work at the Center for Reproductive Rights (union with UAW 2110) but I am not even kind of in charge of anything. Perma pedestrian. I like abortion and unions and flowers and knitting and New York and Kansas. Organizing with Repro Workers

Today in @thenation.com: Noor Alyacoubi spoke to people in Gaza about Trump's desire to expel them from their home. Their answer was very, very clear: "I will never, ever leave my land." www.thenation.com/article/worl...

My takeaway here on what this means for abortion care? Innovative little start ups were never the answer. Our movement is not in a place to innovate with compassion to both workers and patients without being beholden to the absurd whims of random donors. It’s all a savior complex.

A quick hit from me after the protests over the last week, despite all the claims that people were too exhausted to protest and were sitting Trump II out. It's true, much of the Trump "resistance" appeared to have gone home when Biden was elected. But plenty of people never left the fight:

They're just so clearly using this stuff to attempt to purge the federal government's unions and blatantly violate their CBA's, if you're not talking about that because you think certain academics and people who post a lot are annoying to you personally I don't think you're a serious labor advocate

perfect quote www.wired.com/story/edward...

Federal workers got another unsigned email at 1 a.m. from a newly created OPM email, urging them to do the deferred resignation before it supposedly ends today. Feels a bit sweaty and desperate!

insulin is a hormone. if you depend on synthetic insulin to survive, congratulations, that’s hormone replacement therapy. fix your hearts or die (and if you’re #t1d and a transphobe I mean that quite literally)

This story is, among many many things, about how destructive rich people's obsession with funding "innovation" over everything else is. Mobile clinics along state borders never made any sense! The places along borders that do make sense (KC & St. Louis areas, El Paso area, etc) already have clinics!

I think you all should really read @nicolefroio.bsky.social’s reporting for @prismreports.bsky.social about Just The Pill…

oh wow a SECOND article lmao prismreports.org/2025/02/05/j...

One thing Musk's power grab suggests is that IT systems are *the* central chokepoint in contemporary capitalism — and that tech workers have potentially huge disruptive leverage, in both the federal government and within corporate America

Hm...

personally would love to live in a normal world where everything isn’t cartoony and insane!

“Isaacson calls [Musk’s grandfather’s] politics ‘quirky.’ In 1960, [the grandfather] self-published a tract, ‘The International Conspiracy to Establish a World Dictatorship & the Menace to South Africa,’ that blamed the two World Wars on the machinations of Jewish financiers.”

Truly a medieval society, absolutely wild, just millions of men and women who absolutely believe that, like, a single escapee has the powers of Dracula or something.

We are absolutely disgusted with All Above All management’s decision to lay off their entire staff, while keeping every single executive on the payroll, shortly after staff detailed anti-Blackness within the organization. Please donate to help support these workers www.gofundme.com/f/repro-work...

New offerings from the obviously AI-generated kids’ clothing website, many of which are allegedly also available in adult sizes????? And again I’m extremely tempted???

! "The complaints have cropped up around New York for weeks: strangers appear on a voter's doorstep to question his or her voting address and — in some cases — make alarming accusations." lohud.com/story/news/p...

I actually feel like they are all displaying different strains of a tantrum over the fact that they all were mostly let into polite society in the ways they cared about (fancy law schools, journalists, Scalia on stage at the opera with Ginsburg and such), and they feel like people changed the rules

Illegal rentals accounted for about one-third of active city listings on Airbnb. It will be an uphill battle for the agency charged enforcing the new regulations that come into effect Tuesday. www.thecity.nyc/housing/2023...

The indictment is egregious, treating mutual aid and solidarity as pre-crime activities. Guilt by association is the point. Egregiously, it casually refers to the 2020 police execution of Rayshard Brooks as “justified” — and the indictment is from the same Fulton County that indicted Brooks’ killers

the cop city fight is one of the most important challenges to the supremacy of the security state in living memory, and the fact that they are going after it with this much repressive force shows that they know this

it's true that Labor Day is in some sense a fake labor day for cops compared to the REAL labor day (May 1), but also we don't have enough holidays and we should just work towards having two labor-based holidays the same way we have two "salute da vets" holidays

This Labor Day, join us in supporting essential abortion workers who have been laid off or lost hours at work. Whether it’s abortion bans or union busting management coming for us, we’ve got us ✊ Donate to the Repro Worker Aid Fund! gofundme.com/f/repro-worker…

Happy Labor Day to all the medical providers, receptionists, counselors, hotline workers, admins, financial planners, cleaning staff, accountants, fundraisers, legal workers, comms and education specialists, and everyone else who makes abortions happen! Our movement runs on LABOR

I triple-dog dare you to explain to me how "democracy" in America was healthy and functional in 1923. www.nytimes.com/2023/09/03/o...

The parent of a trans girl in MO described bizarre behavior by NYT reporter Azeen Ghorayshi in her reporting for a recent story. At one point Ghorayshi followed her and her husband to their car and stood in the door so it couldn't close.

Happy Labor Day bbs we’re still raising money to help laid off abortion workers! It may have been over a year since Dobbs (and over 2 since SB8…) but we still have new bans taking effect in new states, and each of those means layoffs or at least cut hours www.gofundme.com/f/repro-work...

My new defund the police slogan is no one cares that you don’t support defunding the police

The Shining is a movie about how fun it would be to have a bar in your house

A reminder this Labor Day weekend: every worker who wants an abortion should be able to have an abortion, in the manner of their choosing, in their own community, without restrictions, for free ✊

Good book 👍

all of my sniffware, adtech and geotrack apps have combined billions of dollars worth of data and infrastructure to determine that I would like to buy the coffee maker i bought last month

Major feminist victory alert! FINALLY there is female representation in the Monster Cereal Universe! The arc of history is long....

Did you love our collective letter for the labor movement (bit.ly/ReproWorkers) SO MUCH you wished you could carry it around with you in physical form? If you’re in New York, pick up our text in zine form at Bluestockings and Quimby’s! Proceeds go to the Repro Worker Aid Fund

Extremely bad news for the South and Midwest this week. A total abortion ban went into effect in Indiana, and now a six-week ban will go into effect in South Carolina. These were two of the last states in their respective regions where abortion was more accessible.

:)

You: Wracked by the pain of cognitive dissonance Me: Calmly mentally rotating all the contradictory things I believe

Having now dog sat for people in a good spread of "nice" apartments, I really get why so many of the new "luxury" apartment buildings stay empty, they're built like shit! Speculators demanding stupid returns build cheap places that don't make any sense for living, bananas layouts and such

yimbyism doesn't work anywhere, least of all the places where *70% of the housing is already vacant* and yet rents are rising astronomically.

Lol not to be weird and discuss across platforms but I enjoyed this, made me think of this definition of feminism from Firestone. We have big leaps in technology in transition care, ART, both procedural and medication abortions, alongside a global birth rate that has steadily declined for decades… 👀

For no reason, I cannot believe it has been a year since I wrote this:

We’re over 60% of the way to our goal but could use a push to keep our momentum going! People who spent years providing abortions, through attacks from anti-abortion legislators and activists, need help with necessities. We can’t just abandon them now https://www.gofundme.com/f/repro-worker-aid-fund
