Three months ago I asked you all for suggestions about a web platform for scrollytelling, and received a host of very good suggestions. We ended up going with Shorthand.com, which we found the fastest and easiest for non-designers to use. I've posted this before, but here's the website we built.

Books by practicing scientists for a lay audience can be very good, especially when the scientists share their personal stories. These books by @plutokiller.com and Jeremy DeSilva are especially good for their exploration of how good science is done. Highly recommended.

It boggles my mind that this is unfolding in the United States: moms and babies are dying because of abortion bans www.propublica.org/article/texa... www.reuters.com/world/us/inf...

Great infographic. Pass it on.

You do not need to stop to reassess your purpose or intention to write. This is creative writing. It's like having high functioning anxiety except you're writing it down and calling it a book. Give in to the spiral.

If musk is not a government employee, isn't he then impersonating one? Which is illegal?

@raskin.house.gov: "The whole anti-corruption crusade is an absolute fraud. They started by decimating the ranks of the inspectors general. These are the people whose job is actually, day in and day out, 365 days a year, to ferret out waste, fraud and abuse in the departments and the agencies."

Here is the oath all executive branch employees take. It is to support and defend the Constitution, not to “implement the president’s agenda.” If the two purposes diverge, the Constitution prevails.

I don't see any good reason why college & university presidents shouldn't respond to this with an emphatic and unified "absolutely not." At the very least, the presidents of rich privates should not comply, and should be loud about it. There's no scenario where complying here reduces risk later.

about finding your true work - “the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet” learned from Rev Amelia, calling her congregation to social justice and compassion hoping everyone finds community

This sounds not great.

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

Gutting the CDC right as we’re on the cusp of major outbreaks of transmissible diseases is a very bad idea.

What the health & scientific world "have experienced in the past few weeks is like a death in the family. We are angry, shocked, & saddened, but we must not despair". This a telling account of what is happening in the #US, but I am saddened that the author felt it had to be written anonymously.

A dear friend battling cancer sent this to me. Can you help me prove to her that our love and deep appreciation is not so fringe? Let’s send her some big bog energy.

******I will say this again and again****** MAKING CUTS TO THE BUDGET IS EASY IF YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES. Ending funding for road repair saves money right away…the regrets come later. That is what is happening here…except with diseases. open.substack.com/pub/insideme...

I truly think the world would be a much better place if everyone spent about 75% of their time making bad art

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

“These stories should concern all Americans because they are our family members, neighbors and friends. No American can be proud of a government that carries out change in this way.” The American Bar Association speaks out. Please read and share. www.americanbar.org/news/abanews...

Super great that one of the major funding bodies that supports my physics research is now officially in opposition to me being the one to do it.

Quick explanation of why I want us to hang out to talk about anything but politics (ok a lil bit of politics). Building community is how we get through this…

Librarians—school or public: Are you seeing a change in user habits, such as an uptick in requests for materials/info about immigration, social justice, reproductive health, climate issues? Working on a story. #booksky #TLSky #libraries

Around 35% of SpaceX’s revenue comes directly from the federal govt. Less than 1% of NPR’s budget comes from the federal govt.

If Texas SB 336 passes, Texans hit with SLAPP lawsuits will be forced into costly legal fights—even if the case is bogus.
