Microsoft Research: GenAI can inhibit critical engagement with work and can potentially lead to long-term overreliance on the tool and diminished skill for independent problem-solving. Microsoft: *sells GenAI aggressively into the Education 365 packages*

Humility is in order right now. No one knows what will make a difference. So do everything that you can to take some form of constructive action. 1000 people taking action is ALWAYS better than 1000 people doing nothing or 1000 people acting like East German figure skating judges.

Apropos of new regimes unravelling the institutions, legacies, and symbols of their predecessors, I’ll tell you why the pharaoh on my book cover has a missing nose.

The people in Gaza still desperately need support. They need tents, gas, food, medical care. Please support as you are able. chuffed.org/project/1132...

Lately I’ve been saying “continuing to move through time” instead of “getting older” because of all the bad/automatic ideas that like to attach themselves to the latter. And though today I have anger, fear, and grief roiling in me, I’m grateful that the time I have already moved through means…

NEW: The Department of Education told employees late Friday that they must review and terminate all programs, contracts and policies that affirm the existence of transgender people. By @jodiscohen.bsky.social and @jsmithrichards.bsky.social

Well this was satisfying.

If your boss or company tells you to do something unethical: don't say yes. Make them write it down.

I wish there were a squeegee that could wipe words off of me.

Met so many good shadows at Charleston (www.charleston.org.uk) last week. l am glad of their company (queer & joyous & full of imaginative ways to live) through the storms of the week we're now in.

Metaphors are bad at listening when you try to tell them you are full.

Me: I will no longer be frightened UK washing machines. I am a grown-up who understands things. The washing machine behind the door I just opened: Wash one slice of pizza for 9 hours! Wouldst thou like to clean a meadow? Fear not, my child! My powers extend even to the computer mouse!

Totally forgot it’s Woolf’s birthday today, but coincidentally this morning I gazed upon her sister Vanessa Bell’s original designs for several of Woolf’s book covers—part of the largest-ever solo exhibition of her work—and was so moved by this collaborative production.
