Keir Starmer after the 2nd gaffe in 20 seconds, trying to control the urge to facepalm.

Sad to hear that Sarah Boyack MSP will be stepping down at the next Holyrood election in 2026. She’s been a dedicated voice for Edinburgh and the Lothians for 25+ years — championing the constitution, culture, net zero, and inclusion with passion and integrity.

So sorry to hear that Sarah's standing down. She's been a great representative for her constituents. No matter how hard some other parties try to claim it, she was the one responsible for the introduction of free bus travel for the over 60s and for the creation of national parks.

Thanks to John at Saunderson's Butcher for this great review! Working together on everything from their social media presence to their 60th anniversary celebrations has been fantastic. If you're ready to take the leap and explore new marketing opportunities, don't hesitate to get in touch!

The stories coming out of Bartlett's Potatoes this week are awful. They could be the words of a disgruntled former employee, but a lot of the comments below seem to confirm they aren't. Someone needs to check up on this because it isn't ok in 2025 in Scotland. www.reddit.com/r/glasgow/co...

Ah, the sound of a prosecco bottle popping open as you get on your 9h10 train.🍾 Funnily enough, I just checked whether the booze ban on Scottish trains was still in place, and it was actually lifted a week or so ago. Maybe they're just celebrating. www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-...

Huge congratulations to Pam Duncan-Glancy on her MBE. The first permanent wheelchair user elected to Holyrood, Pam is a trailblazer who makes an immense contribution to public life and is a dauntless campaigner for disability rights. We are so proud of her. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Sir Geoff Palmer has died. His contribution to this country was profound, and delivered not only with wit and wisdom but with gentleness and courage. He was the sort of man who, having been faced with many obstacles in his own life, sought to break them down for others. He was a great Briton.

BREAKING | Google, Spotify and other major platforms down in massive internet outage

We commissioned students from Edinburgh College to design murals to mark 100 years of the National Library of Scotland 🎨 The students took inspiration from the Library’s art deco architecture and Hew Lorimer’s sculptures, which adorn the exterior of our building on George IV Bridge 🗽

I'm still frustrated at not seeing more Labour/ Scottish Labour action on here. I get there are multiple platforms to be across, but if the content's being created, it might as well be shared as far and wide as possible, especially less than a year before Holyrood elections.

Desperately sad to learn of the death of Peter Krykant, an indomitable campaigner who brought Scotland's drugs deaths crisis into the light and kept it there, and without whom The Thistle, the UK's first legal drugs consumption room, would not exist www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Britons ‘hoarding cash amid economic uncertainty and fear of outages’

Facebook decided to suspend my account because of a piece (below) I wrote Monday about violence which in no way advocates for it (but does point out who is violent in the current ruckus).

The National Guard sleeping quarters in Los Angeles, organised by Hegseth and Trump. American soldiers had better living conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan than when deployed to America's own cities.

Shouldn't need saying, but the horror and the dysfunction and the performative cruelty we're seeing in Trump's America... that's what a Farage government would bring to our shores.

Nice bit of bipartisanship between Rishi Sunak and @alexjjnorris.bsky.social on the excellent @changingplacesuk.bsky.social initiative. Gracious politics is so much better and it does not get enough coverage. ~AA

It was good to spend a couple hours campaigning with Catriona Munro for the Fountainbridge and Craiglockhart by-election this afternoon... she rewarded us with some homemade shortbread. 😋 Residents were very happy Labour beat the SNP in Hamilton, & want to see us do the same in this by-election!

I can confirm this weekend's Guardian life hack works. I've never beaten a hastier retreat than the time I was door knocking in Leith a few years ago and a man with a black eye, bleeding nose and manic laugh came to the door cradling an electric drill.

Handsome loaf today. Nice stripes. They aren't always so.

Brian Wilson doesn't miss them and hit the wall in today's Scotsman. It's game on for 2026.

💯 agree. Quite brilliant.

So wish I'd put a tenner on Aberdeen winning the cup and Labour winning the by-election. But then I guess both victories are worth much more than cold, hard cash.
