This is my last semester of coursework before prelims and dissertation work (2-3 years). I’ve been in school since Jan 2017. I’m exhausted. But on Fridays, I get to meet with 17 interns and lead them through publishing discussions. Every week, Friday makes me willing to keep going.

An ability to describe things in the world is a basic creative writing skill you can isolate to learn much as an artist learns by, say, sketching a bench or trees in a park. It requires sustained practice and it's easy to tell who hasn't done it.

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

I spent this evening tabling an event with a few interns from the journal I work for. It was a fundraiser for a local queer bookstore, and being in that space was like aloe on a sunburn.

Last night, my dream was basically the plot of a romantasy. I was having a difficult pregnancy. A magical one. The father was some sort of shape shifting wolf king. He wasn’t a nice guy. I was a little scared of him and a lot attracted to him.
