Tetris taught me that trying to fit in will make you disappear.

It is BOTH Local Yarn Store Day and Independent Bookstore Day ... And yesterday was payday...

My local cafe is playing a version of Bon Jovi’s Living on a Prayer, that sounds like it’s being performed by a high school marching band. Also, I swear, there’s… a kazoo in the mix? It feels like a portent for how the rest of this week is going to go

I mean, not wrong

This morning’s random doodle… still figuring out shapes. At this (very slow) rate, I’m going to have a hundred very bad doodles of Bob Dylan

much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it

We watched a series of bio pics and documentaries on Bob Dylan recently and now the angles of his face, and the lines of his poetry, are rambling around in my head. Still do t have a solid fix on either

I taught myself how to knit during the pandemic. It soothes me when I’m feeling stressed or anxious… I’m on my fourth sweater so far this year.

“The line it is drawn The curse it is cast The slow one now Will later be fast As the present now Will later be past The order is rapidly fadin' And the first one now Will later be last For the times they are a-changin'” -#BobDylan

I have tariffed the penguins that are on Heard Island and which you were probably assuming did not export goods forgive me they were taking advantage of us so cunning and so cold

you know what a country *could* do in the face of this absolutely farcical shift in global economy? invest heavily in research and infrastructure. imagine leveling-up that was actually about boosting industries and universities around the whole country. a positive vision.

Libraries are essential for many communities. But funding for them is constantly being reduced, and we are losing these places of knowledge.

I love Boaty McBoatyface I also long for a world where this is the top story in my newsfeed www.bbc.com/news/article...

The Irish bar down the street has reintroduced Karaoke Sundays. Someone is currently singing Katy Perry at the top of his lungs. What he may lack in talent, or pitch, he is more than making up for, in enthusiasm. And volume. No Sir, YOU are the firework. I love this neighborhood.

GDC is a reminder that all my peers are some combination of hot smart creative unhinged neurodiverse theater kid goblins creating magic and fantasy using tools made from duct tape and dollar store staples.

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025. This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

Wandering around Astoria, Oregon

“We get no credit for being sane. We hold it together and hold it together and make it another day, another year, and there’s no reward. Nothing great about being normal. About not being crazy. Then you have one bad day… It only takes one.” — Wool, Hugh Howey

As I come closer to death, I ponder the important questions. Do they still tell that tale of the one night in the year when all the chalk figures come alive? The night the white horses gallop and the giants wrestle. Do children still try to stay up to see such marvels? - #CLNolan

The view from here

growing up reading fantasy books led me to believe that I'd have a lot more instances of finding a hidden diary in my house that transports me back to an ancient land of adventure and whimsy, and I've never really gotten over that betrayal

My favorite cafe has new mugs. I loved their old mugs but I love these even more

I love this

The Internet Archive has to date downloaded 500 terabytes of US government websites, which it crawls at the end of every presidential term. The whole archive is fully searchable. This effort's housed by a donation-funded nonprofit, not a branch of the US government. blog.archive.org/2024/05/08/e...
