Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

🆘 The White House terminated the entire staff of the State Dept.'s Historical Advisory Committee this evening. This threatens the integrity of the declassification of foreign policy records, the objectivity of our historical accounts, and undermines current and future policy makers.

@FT: "About 44 per cent of Washington’s full-service casual dining spots say they are likely to close this year, partly because of the economic effects of federal lay-offs, according to the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington."

Breaking news: The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the Food and Drug Administration properly rejected applications to market fruit- and dessert-flavored liquids for e-cigarettes that the agency says are popular with young people and risk them getting hooked on nicotine.

At the National Museum of African American History and Culture, visitors pushed back against the claim that the museum perpetuated anti-American ideology.

“Our peaceful trading partners are not our enemies. They are our allies. We should beware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends, weakening our economy, our national security and the entire free world. All while cynically waving the American flag.” ~Reagan 11.6.88

You don’t impeach judges because you disagree with their decisions; you appeal the decisions.

1/The news that additional private attorneys may have their security clearances revoked, as I did, without any due process, simply because they represented someone the President doesn't like is a disgraceful affront to the entire legal and national security system. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/u...

Feels like a good time to remind everyone that if you are a public servant wishing to report retaliation, acts of corruption or abuse of government power, I have a page for that on my website: www.wyden.senate.gov/whistleblowe...
