And I am an ally. If you are too, let the world know.

Vera Brittain, who lost her fiancé, beloved brother, and others in WWI, composed this shortly afterward:

The top diplomat reiterated the importance of standing up to Moscow, calling the war in Ukraine a “major challenge to the rule of law.'

James Nachtwey. Bosnia, 1993. Mourning a soldier killed by Serbs and buried in what was once a football field. Afghanistan, 1996. Mourning a brother killed by a Taliban rocket. What we see cant be unseen….we are now part of the story.

There are countries that can afford smooth, over-time social transition without much dramatism and then there's Georgia where freedom and colonial mentality wage an existential zero-sum battle here and now. Sure, it will be a grand story to tell, but we’d appreciate surviving it.

Land for peace. Works every time ... 🙄

The Dr Williams Library is relocating to the John Rylands Library in Manchester! This is absolutely fabulous news! The Rylands already has incredible archival riches, but this is going to consolidate it as a major centre of nonconformist writing 🌟 dwl.ac.uk

I've completed restoring the Royal Copenhagen angel doll. I used urushi lacquer for adhesion and color repair. Though I could have added gold patterns, I thought it better for this one to appear without visible scars.

Just supported @dabaden.bsky.social with the Kickstarter for her new #Thrutopian novel. Well worth it if you have the means and care about getting new ideas out into the world... www.kickstarter.com/projects/dab... #ClimateEmergency

The Karl Marx Walking Tour will inevitably destroy itself. The oppressed Walking Tour guides will become alienated and ultimately overthrow the owners of The Karl Marx Walking Tour to take control of the means of production themselves, ushering in a Walking Tourless society.

Fuck Jeff Bezos. Admittedly, Amazon is easy and often less expensive. I really want to pull back as much as possible. Here is a list of alternatives for your books when the library can't meet your needs or you want a copy of something to hold onto. bookriot.com/places-to-bu...

“...art is not timeless and eternal. Great works survive their period, but that is not to say that they do not die. After that period they live again by virtue of a sort of resurrection”. John Berger. thoughtsonartandteaching.blogspot.com/2009/12/who-...

UN analysis of verified deaths during a five-month period confirmed that of those who died, 44% were children. Most often, those children were five- to nine-year-olds; 80% of them killed in their own homes.
