Finally out of the maze of wires and beeping machines and back home. Feeling much better. Two hospital stays in a month. Bring on the Spring!

Little Gracie making me stay on couch and continue my post-hospital recovery. She is a little gem.

Hi all. I don’t follow those who have not posted yet. I block. People have had enough time to post here. Sorry .

Woo hoo! First time I can cough without a wheeze or feel like I have an Alien baby about to burst from my chest. 12 days. The drugs *do* work but they take their time.

Upside down Gracie. I think she missed me…

Discharged! Great staff at the #BonSecours hospital in Dublin. Feeling much better!

Pneumonia. Bugger. Getting the good drugs now. Not the best birthday I’ve ever had but would rather feel better.

Well this will be a big birthday to remember: a major milestone tomorrow but will be spending it in hospital. Saw my GP today and he says my awful lung infection is not improving so 48 hours of inpatient intravenous heavy duty treatment is needed. Bugger. I hope the hospital does birthday cakes.

Upside down tickles for Gracie. It’s love, officially.

Well it’s taken a month but tonight lovely Gracie gave in and I’ve been love bombed: heavy purrs and full on kneading. She’s finally clicked that she’s safe and loved in her forever home.

Slipper killer….

Here in Europe we don’t have to rely on teenage science-fiction, we have the hard factual evidence in our European neighbouring countries. I’d implore Americans to quit with the Lucasfilm analogies. Travel here, take it in, then your ‘take’ will have some credibility.

Jesus, a number of men on here using ‘Star Wars’ fiction to try and explain what’s going on in the USA. Hey, how about travelling to Europe to see the Normandy batteries, the wrecked gas ovens in camps, the mass graves. Idiotic man-boy takes on fascism. Sick of it.

Gracie showing no interest in the rugby. She’s only 4 months old so plenty of time to learn!

Gracie has discovered the TV. She’s been bounding around for hours now. Think I’m seeing the real Gracie after her first two shy weeks here.

Trump has a bypass when it comes to human empathy and compassion. It’s a pathology. He’s so self-identified that all events revolve around *his* weird take on events. Don’t succumb to the lack of basic human decency. We are all better than his take, that came from a weirdly distorted family dynamic.

Marianne Faithfull was her own woman. She doesn’t need to be put beside any men of her era to make her relevant. She was a pioneer, a musician, a survivor, an icon in her own right. And yes, I drove through Paris in a sports car, at the age of 40 not 37, but Marianne impelled me. RIP brave woman.

Gracie, in hiding for two weeks, is now biting my toes at 5am. It's progress but painful....

It is 9 hours long. It takes that long to slowly, calmly lay out the Nazi plan & execution of the Holocaust. I’ve seen it 3 times. I watched 2 hours today (on BBC iPlayer) and it’s simply breathtaking in a very slow, revealing, terrifying way. No better time than now to watch it.

In the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, if you have not seen Claude Lanzmann’s “SHOAH” (1985), I recommend you do. Witnesses - farmers, train drivers, Polish and Lithuanian villagers who saw their Jewish neighbours ‘disappear’. It is an extraordinary documentary.

Hope you all got through the night without damage. A storm we won’t forget here in Ireland.

Right. I’m going under the duvet. Staying there until it passes.

Sorry #burlingtondental.

I have a new bit of me today: an implant! Thanks to Drs Paul O’Reilly (surgery) and Kevin O’Boyle (implant fitting) at #BurlingtinDental in Dublin. The best in the business! You need a reference from your own dentist first but I got superb treatment.
