Another great Critical Mass ride on Saturday! Plenty of folk out to celebrate our LTN win in Leith and remind everyone that we are the traffic! We were joined on the ride by Engineering students from Glasgow and Heriot-Watt universities with cutting-edge hydrogen-powered e-bikes.

That’s our 3 days at #Scotlab25 over. It was good to talk to MSPs, MPs and councillors about how important outdoor access rights are for the nation’s health and rural economy and why it should be a focus for the next Parliament. We are taking the same message to all political parties.

Our @scotsquirrels.bsky.social project is looking for a Programme Support Officer who can use their excellent organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills to support the team. Find out more and apply on our website: https://buff.ly/432mCXL

Here's the route for tomorrow's ride! See you on Middle Meadow Walk at 2pm!

Always something to learn from these type of quizzes. This one could help you avoid hypothermia, so it’s worth a read - even if you get all the questions right (I didn’t!).

I’m a Scottish independent DIY musician on tour in Canada. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇨🇦 Can you help me get the word out about my shows? I’m trying my hardest sell as many of them out as possible. It’s hard right now. If you like Scottish folk music, or know friends who might like my music. Please SHARE!

Fancy a new job in #ScotlandsRainforest working in woodlands like this?? 👇 @rspbscotland.bsky.social is looking for someone to lead a small team who are restoring rainforest across the Morvern peninsula in the West Highlands. app.vacancy-filler.co.uk/salescrm/Car... 📷 John MacPherson

It's a story playing out everywhere: -> Rich people buy land which the public have enjoyed historically. They want exclusivity. -> They block public access, often illegally. -> Access services are underfunded and the law is weak. The public lose again. At least in this instance it hit the news.

Join us this Saturday for a ride around Marchmont! Meet 2pm Middle Meadow Walk.

Necessary viewing, but a hard watch. Unbelievable resilience in the face of an ongoing nightmare. Gaza: how to survive a warzone. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

Those who have power don’t like to give it up and will put forward numerous, specious arguments to try and back their case. Good rebuttal here by @lewis-winks.bsky.social Fingers crossed for this legal case to confirm public access rights to camp on Dartmoor.

The SGA claimed the programme caused "unfair reputation [sic] damage". Nope, reputational damage is not being caused by the BBC reporting the evidence, it's being caused by criminal gamekeepers who continue to kill birds of prey. #RaptorResearch raptorpersecutionuk.org/2025/02/17/b...

If a developer chooses to challenge a planning decision, they are free to do so. If a community wishes to do so, they will incur cripplingly expensive legal costs. Who thinks that is fair and reasonable? This Dundee community could use your support. www.crowdjustice.com/case/save-ri...

Sarwar & Starmer's nuclear love-in. What's it all about? Scotland going for new nuclear is like geothermal/hydro-powered Iceland going for gas. It makes no sense at all. Our destiny is to develop clean green baseload energy like tidal for ourselves & the world www.thenational.scot/politics/249...

🧵"So this is how liberty dies..." Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up. I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

Fancy joining us for a free day walk? Musselburgh to Prestonpans on Sunday 23 February. Get there from Edinburgh by bus, the route is 6 miles and should take around 3 hours walking. Sign up here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

Following his brain tumour diagnosis, the BBC's Glenn Campbell set himself the challenge of climbing all 282 Scottish Munros. A Walkhighlands user himself, Glenn is now asking hillwalkers to join him by taking on a Munro on Sunday 10 August. www.walkhighlands.co.uk/news/hillwal...

What an amazing weekend we just had in Ballachulish. ❄️🔆 We did Munros, Corbetts & Grahams, and some of us even took the Corran ferry for a bike ride. Thanks to the Rucksack club for use of the Craaigallan hut! Our next trip is to Blackrock Cottage, Glencoe 14-16 March, why not join us?

Welcome comments from @naturescot.bsky.social chair Prof Colin Galbraith.⤵️ He wants Scottish access rights to "continue to thrive & that their use helps tackle the climate emergency by promoting a deeper connection to nature while encouraging everyone to care for Scotland's extraordinary outdoors.”

SAVE THE LEITH #LTN Those who oppose safer streets are urging council to reverse safer streets introduced thru the #Leith low traffic neighbourhood (LTN). PLEASE don't let them win. Please take 5 mins to email your councillors & urge them to save the Leith LTN: rd8993.wixsite.com/liveable-leith

Our @gavincorbett.bsky.social marked yesterday's 2️⃣0️⃣th anniversary of Scotland's access rights going live with a stunning day walking in the NW Highlands. ⛰️ Since 9 Feb 2005, the Scottish Outdoor Access Code has guided how we *all* enjoy land responsibly, from peaks & farmland, to paths & beaches. 🚶

Campaigning win for outdoors folk, conservationists & rural residents who all wanted telecoms masts that actually improved mobile reception for rural communities without intruding on unspoiled locations to achieve arbitrary geographic coverage targets www.johnmuirtrust.org/whats-new/ne...

New contender for my favourite #Corbett - Garbh Bheinn, between Glencoe and Kinlochleven. Stunning views yesterday, but a tad chilly on the top. ☀️❄️😍🥾

A cold wind and with icy snow underfoot today, but worth it for the fantastic views! To Lismore & Mull and over Loch Etive. Sadly not a day for lingering. ☀️❄️ On Creach Bheinn, a Corbett above Glen Creran.

Such a crazy world these days, so it was good to have a Pentlands day with pals and get away from the news. Rather wet circular route from Carlops via East Cairn Hill and the Cauldstane Slap. Sunshine, wind - and even snow, feeling properly tired now. @ramblersscotland.bsky.social

More evidence that the evidential basis for any significant carbon sequestration over relevant timescales from new woodland is shaky. Time to revise net-zero policy to reduce reliance on sequestration and get on with cuttting emissions. bsky.app/profile/hutt...
