#legoboat update: day service is closed today so it’s the perfect opportunity to keep boat building and wow this is shaping up to be an epic build 🤩⛴️

Wow I’m impressed! Not quite finished but not much more to do now 👍🏼😁

He’s back boat building again today 😁 happy Sunday everyone xx

I’m laid up with a trapped nerve in my back 😫. Not ideal when my son’s care needs are high but these items are helping & he is out with his carers for a few hours so I’m hoping they will work their magic for when he returns 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Hope everyone’s having a good Saturday x

George has just started going to disability football with his day service. Here he is showing off his ball skills 🤩

George spent the day honing his fine motor and concentration skills at the farm today 👍🏼🦸‍♂️

Sunday morning Lego boat building underway 😀🚢

Hey everyone it’s been a while! I’ve been busy helping George settle back into his weekly routine after the Christmas & new year break. Today he was lucky enough to have the opportunity to go to Amherst Fort in Chatham with his day service. He really enjoyed the new experience 😀👍🏼

Bag 1 & 2 of first Lego build of 2025 in progress 😁

It’s a New Year’s Day tradition in this house to go on a jolly ‘oliday with Mary. One of the few films from my childhood that George also loves 😍

Since signing up to the butterfly in the blue sky I have interacted with some truly lovely people who have gone a long way to restoring my faith in human beings. George and I would like to thank you for your kind words and wish you all a happy healthy & peaceful 2025 💗

We’re at Wembley Park Theatre seeing out the year at Starlight Express! Bit risky as he’s not familiar with it but it’s about trains and space, 2 of his favourites so what’s not to like? Wish us luck 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Choosing dvds to spend his hmv vouchers on is a very serious business 😁

Been a bit quiet since the big day. Family visits & a couple of days of high anxiety brought on by the change of routine have made this week a bit difficult. I try to prepare George as much as I can with visual resources but they can be a bit hit & miss. Hope you have all had a good week 👍🏼

Merry Christmas from us to all of you ❤️

George loves Father Christmas, especially when he knows to give him Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas at his youth club party this evening 🎅🏽🎉🥳

At this time of year adult services often have to change their routines as places close for the holidays. Yesterday was one such day. George went to an indoor inflatable and had a great time as can be seen in the photo below. He coped with the change really well #proud

Today George chose to have Christmas lunch at his day service. For just £5 he has enjoyed turkey roasties carrots parsnips broccoli red cabbage Yorkshire pudding stuffing & mince pies. We are lucky he doesn’t choose to restrict his food intake or have sensory issues around food 👍🏼

I had a rare night out with my girls last night. Unfortunately it was so rare I’m feeling a bit delicate today 🥴 so I’m very grateful that George is happy to start building Buzz Lightyear’s spaceship so I can recuperate 😁👍🏼

Masking is a strategy a lot of autistic people adopt to cope with a situation/environment they find challenging. They appear able to cope & when they are finally able to leave they fall apart due to exhaustion & stress. George does this & all I can do is sit with him until he can regulate himself.

George had a bit of a tricky time at his day service today so his carer gave him some paper and coloured pens and asked him how he was feeling 👇🏼

Okay tree’s up 🎄😀

George likes to help put the tree up and wind the lights around it. Putting the decorations on is a major operation which requires lots of time (me) and patience (him) so I will show you all the finished article later…..🎄

I’m very happy to report that not only did George not freak out when he saw me at his day service helping to set up for the Christmas fair, but he then happily accepted the change to his routine and came to the fair and met Father Christmas 😀

I had to explain to George today that due to his day service holding their Christmas fair on Friday his pm routine would be very different. It can take him hours sometimes days to process new information so keeping everything crossed he will be okay on Friday. I will report back…

Despite helping out fantastically with the chickens at the farm today, George struggled to contain his anxiety. He has developed a nervous tic that presents as three or four rapid breaths through his wide open mouth that can be mistaken for hyperventilation

It’s a frog 🐸

Only one thing to do on a day like today. He’s hoping to show you all the finished model soon….

Storm Bert threw up some surprises this morning, one being this pheasant hen in our back garden. We don’t live near where they usually reside and this one looked very lost and bewildered! She managed to hop onto our shed roof but then we lost sight of her. Hoping she found her way home again 🤞🏼

George had a great time with his wonderful support worker making Christmas cards and pictures and wanted to show you all 🤗

George has joined his support worker today to make Christmas cards, eat mince pies and watch Elf! (Probably 😆). Hopefully I will be able to show you all the fruits of his Labour later. Meanwhile we appear to be in the eye of storm Bert ☔️💨. Stay safe everyone and have a good Saturday ❤️
