I would hope for a social media's algorithm to get trained by all of the blocking that a user decides to do on it. There is a place which keeps showing me a certain type of content that I like to block - accounts that promote spammy fake news sites.

Imagine a child who really likes a certain toy. The child's parents are control freaks who underestimate their kid's intelligence. They take the toy away for a while. The child eventually gets it back, but he or she knows deep down that it's not the same toy as before.
