The termination of probationary staff was ordered (and the list of names generated by) the OPM, NOT the individual agencies. The agencies were handed the list and then some tried to get as many names removed as possible, to little effect.

Agencies have been directed to prepare RIF (federal process to lay staff off) for 10, 20, and 40% staff reductions. We are hearing the notices for these layoffs will occur during the assumed shutdown of the government starting on March 15. OPM has directed staff to be given 30 days notice, not 60
