It's tough out here 😩

Some cherry blossoms to remind us of the ephemeral nature of physical beauty for #wyrdwednesday .

Owing to a misunderstanding about how to parse the phrase “Superb Owl”, my husband thought I was telling him it’s “Super Bowel Sunday”. This should be a thing. Eat your high-fibre foods people!

This probably isn’t the developers’ top priority (although it should be), but I’d love to see the Bluesky app have an option to switch to the Julian calendar for those of us who reject the lies of Pope Gregory XIII

My thoughts on historical fiction and how to write characters who are realistic but not dickheads: hesperleveret.com/good-times-b...

Films and TV programmes with long night/dark scenes, filmed in near black so you can only see shadows on the screen for several minutes on end, are unwatchable. I realise that it's 'authentic'; but you wouldn't make a film set in ancient Rome with all-Latin dialogue, would you?

Got depressed at listening to news podcasts about Trump so I turned to The Rest is History to try and cheer myself up. Their latest episode is about the Nazi invasion of Poland. Spoiler: it did not, in fact, cheer me up.

omg this works!!

Hard agree. I refuse to play monopoly with any house rules.

Emails shouldn't be free to send. Maybe then I wouldn't get so many of the fucking things.

clean girl this, brown mascara that. sorry gen z but I want to look like I murdered my first husband for the money and am about to ruin the pool boy's life. it's called glamour, darling

My score is one - I’ve never used a typewriter, ironically enough. But I send postcards regularly and listen to music on CDs and vinyl records nearly every day.

How did tomatoes become the iconic not-a-vegetable vegetable? When there are several other vegetables that are actually fruits (like squash, peppers, and cucumbers) and meanwhile mushrooms are not only not-vegetables, they’re *not even plants*? 🍅🥒🍄‍🟫

I just got a refund of credits from Audible on the two Neil Gaiman audiobooks I owned. They were some of the oldest books in my library but the customer service department was able to refund them after a quick web chat. A small gesture I know but it feels good to clean house.

If you can’t draw, and will not spent the time developing the skill, and so badly want to make art that you are angry people are saying you can’t use the plagiarism machine, why don’t you try making a collage and then you’ll calm down

Not everything needs a bloody app.

I was very happy when I moved house and saw that the nearby beach has signs on it warning of the dangers of quicksand. And every couple of weeks someone gets stuck and has to be hauled out by the coastguard. Finally, my childhood fears are vindicated!

This morning I dropped one child off at school, and another child at nursery. Then I treated myself to a peaceful cappuccino and pain au chocolat, and a day of writing… Happy new year! ☕️🥐

Please help me! I’m on X because that’s where my paintings sell. I shift about 95% of my work there. If I could just get my followers up to the same level here, it would release me from the swamp. I live in the middle of nowhere so I rely on social media to share & show my work.
