It's the time of year when I see articles telling folks to put pet fur out for bird nesting. The Cornell ornithology lab does not recommend this! This is a great writeup of history, both professional and personal. It also again shows the uselessness of surveys (nobody picked the name Balatro) and the extreme importance of listening to user feedback (if users kept mentioning issues on their own volition, it would be looked into)

A big reason to take a demo down is because it no longer shows the consumer an accurate picture of the game in development—and because maintaining a demo drains resources from the final game. When it’s a choice between improving/fixing a demo and making a better game, I pick the game.

This lines up incredibly well with what I'm seeing, but the "deal upfront" presented as an average doesn't communicate well what deals will be signed in 2025 - which yes, might have a $600,000 average, but its unlikely to include deals at $600,000: much higher or lower feels more common at this time
