The look on Audra McDonald’s face when she sang, “I dreamed it for YOU, June,” has consumed my thoughts for a week. It’s agonizing.

FOUR HOURS LEFT ☀️ $17 sponsors one student to use Spark Space for one day (internet, electricity, & more). Because students are still studying—and midterms are right now. Even $1 tells these students that we believe in them & their dignity. 430/510: chuffed.org/project/spar...

I love this SO MUCH and the 👸🏾 on the right looks like me 🥹

Absolutely! This is what one of my students said in her reflection about what she wanted to remember about the year. Laughs first--because we loved to make space for joy--but work after that.

Sometimes, before they thrive, THEY FIGHT. I spend so much time convincing students that thinking is worthwhile and important. And that what they have to say is worthwhile and important. Once they do it though?! Magical. Unstoppable. Undefeated.

"We do hard shit together" would make for a very-efficient one-sentence syllabus 😂

I’d argue that rigorous and academically challenging work builds a strong classroom rapport. We do hard shit together 💛

One of my bigger frustrations from this school year: the false dichotomy too many buy into that you can EITHER have positive rapport and relationships in the classroom OR rigorous, academic challenge. Both/and. Both/and. Both/and.

I need everyone on Normal People internet to know that American Girl Doll Instagram is doing doll protests today. There are tiny t-shirts and signs. AND THEN I realized it's a joint protest with the Barbie ppl, where there are EVEN TINIER SIGNS.

Maybe, especially if your voice shakes.

Silence is violence. Speak up, even when your voice shakes.

If this were any other country, the United States would invade the United States if it got to the ‘assassinating dissenting political leaders’ phase of instability and turmoil.

Top tier advice 🙌🏾🙏🏾

Put this on a billboard.

I got accepted to a doctoral program today and while I’m so damn excited, I’m already irritated about having to relearn APA format 😭

This is why noblesse oblige existed as a concept, a certain type of wealth was expected to give back or lose their head

Important framing

My favorite thing right now is that when I type “teacher banning AI” in a search, I am my own first result 😂

I've written many drafts of this post with the goal of being as cool as @katmabu.bsky.social in her campaign ads but alas! The dilly: Today is 50 days from my 50th birthday. My goal is to raise $5K for my campaign for town board. secure.actblue.com/donate/jennb... Steve! is here to help.

Jenn’s work is an incredible gift to everyone who engages. Please consider donating to celebrate this special birthday!

I will never get over how brilliant and explosive Euphoria felt in 2024. Best song of the whole beef.

A new teacher asks how they can find the line between being cool and being firm. Here’s my two cents! What you think? www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8rJywD9/

If fascist don’t take this country, every single person whose job is to serve and protect but who acted against its citizens should be exposed and prosecuted.
