Spent my afternoon with this warm hug of a book, beautifully-written by Katya Balen with gorgeous illustrations by Gill Smith. The characters and the relationships between them, their families, the animals and everyone in the village are lovely. #KidLitUK #UKKidLit @walkerbooksuk.bsky.social

A school RfP policy in one post: * Time to read and be read to every day * Time to talk about books together * Freedom to read graphic novels, picturebooks, poetry, non-fiction, magazines, anything * New books are an investment, not an expense * Work with librarians, bookshops, authors, poets, etc

Does your picture book collection need a boost? Check out my special offer. Choose 5 books from a selection (max 2 hardbacks) @smithsmm.bsky.social @karlduke8.bsky.social @lteacher123.bsky.social @hfj0108.bsky.social www.readersthatcare.co.uk/childrens-bo...

Quick question for the #KidLitUK community. I’m pretty OK with YA/Teen titles but have become a bit out of touch with the 5-12 age range. What under the radar paperback crackers are out there and you would recommend? #BookSky #KidLit 💙📚

My latest article for @neunion.bsky.social Educate magazine is about non-fiction. It's often overlooked when talking about reading in the classroom and it shouldn't be. An exciting non-fiction text can engage readers just as well as any other. @michaelrosenyes.bsky.social @teresacremin.bsky.social

The thing I love about the @sparkbookaward.bsky.social is that the children will talk to you about the books at any time. This week I was practising some arithmetic with one of our panel when we discovered we were both reading the same book. #UKKidLit #KidLitUK

We’ve only just got started so looking forward to more @sparkbookaward.bsky.social reading next half term. Some initial thoughts from our panels… #UkKidLit #KidLitUK

We submitted our results for the @royalsociety.org Young People’s Book Prize this morning. It was very close across the board and initially a dead heat between two books so the panel had a long discussion followed by a revote to decide our winner. #YoungSciBooks #KidLitUK

Have you read the remarkable Utterly Dark trilogy by Philip Reeve? If not, now’s the perfect time to order them via our local bookshop, First Draft Books, supporting them AND BooktTrust & Scottish Booktrust for the #ReadItForward fundraiser. Link below!

My cosy read for Sunday - The Magician Next Door by Rachel Chivers Khoo. I loved Callie and Sam and the friendship that develops between them. Gorgeous illustrations by Alice McKinley sprinkled throughout. Another brilliant @sparkbookaward.bsky.social shortlisted book @walkerbooksuk.bsky.social

Dare you return to Shadowhall Academy for a new term? Ghost Story Society by Phil Hickes ups the creepiness as a sinister book unleashes dark secrets… out this Thursday for 9+ 📖 #kidlituk checkemoutbooks.wordpress.com/2025/02/09/s...

#SundayMorningBookChat this week is about championing those books that perhaps aren’t as well known as some of an authors more famous works. Here are six of mine - all brilliant! What books would recommend that might be lesser known - an unsung hero?

More new books added to the graphic novel shelf in the library but they don’t stay there long. I had two children helping to tidy the library and they each chose their reward to be early access to one of these so they didn’t even make it to the shelf yet! @jamiesmart.bsky.social #KidLitUK #KidsGN
