Blue Tits started nesting in our camera nest box this morning. Ten days later than last year. Baby bird season at @follywildlife.bsky.social is on its way 💙

So many frogs!!! Our West Kent pond is full of action tonight! We only had 1 blob of spawn this morning. I think there may be rather more on its way! Who needs television at this time of year?!😁 🐸 @froglife.bsky.social @katebradbury.bsky.social

Our vet nurse Rachel & volunteer Donna will be running the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon tomorrow to raise funds for Folly. Please support them if you can www.justgiving.com/team/runforf...

#FlashbackFriday to 2023. This Tawny Owl fell down a chimney & arrived at Folly weak and rather sooty! After a warm 'bath' with us soaking his feathers to help get the soot off and some days to recover, he was soon released back to his original location and he couldn't fly off quickly enough!

1/ This hedgehog has been with us since he was a hoglet & hasn’t been showing us what we need to know in order to release him. A camera trap was set up in his enclosure monitoring the area round his food bowl so we could check his mobility & movement and see how well he…

Just 1 week until Rachel & Donna run in the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon in aid of Folly! There‘s still time to support their Just Giving! justgiving.com/team/runforfolly Hopefully the sun will shine for them & our volunteers helping marshal the event Thank you again, as always 🏃🏽‍♀️🦔🐾

Looking for some sunshine & fresh air? Want to learn new skills or refresh old ones? Want to make a difference at a local charity? We're recruiting volunteers to help with a variety of projects! Come & join our friendly team, where you'll work surrounded by nature & the sound of bird song.

This #NationalNestboxWeek, remember not all birds nest the same way! Here's a few options to get you started... 🧵👇 Robins and Wrens like to keep hidden, tucking their nests away in dense cover. An open-fronted box placed low down and out of sight is just their style. (1/4)

It's #NationalNestBoxWeek- and when it comes to looking after your garden friends, we've got you covered! Let’s kick off with the all-important do's and don’ts when choosing a nest box. 👇 Share & keep nesting birds safe:

Can’t help get excited when a badger turns up in the garden. It doesn’t happen often, but it explains who ate the peanuts that I knocked out of the feeder I had soaking in disinfectant overnight 😍🦡 @kentwildlife.bsky.social @badgertrust.bsky.social @badgerlandcouk.bsky.social

1/ A dog-walker threw a tennis ball & somehow hit an unsuspecting House Sparrow! She had quite a head injury on arrival with a wound. So we cleaned it up, gave pain relief & monitored her over the next week. As the days went by, she made an amazing recovery &…

This Barn Owl got completely stuck in brambles. He was cut free by the finders but, with a large bit of bramble still stuck in his neck, the finders brought him to us. Luckily the injury was superficial & the bramble came off easily. After a few days rest he was released back home. #Flashback

1/ It's #NationalHedgehogDay 💕🦔 The European Hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) is a firm favourite & it’s fitting to celebrate them! Our prickly friends can have more than 5000 spines which form a great defence mechanism when faced with a potential threat. Trust us… we’ve been prickled many a time!…

No apologies for the Cute 🥰 Bunny feeding time this morning!

1/ 2025 baby season has started! These baby rabbits were bright but scared on arrival. With eyes only just open & ears still laid down, we think they’re around 2 weeks old. A team member is fostering them & they’ve done really well. Rabbits aren't easy to hand rear, having very delicate…

We rarely see Foxes using the Badger Hole, they generally just jump the fences with ease, but this fine dog Fox decided it needed further excavation last night 😊 🦊 #foxoftheday

First badger for a couple of months… further enlarging the hole badgers dug between us & the neighbour who refused to let us have a hedgehog hole on this fence 😁 🦡 @badgertrust.bsky.social @badgerlandcouk.bsky.social @kentwildlife.bsky.social

Meet Peep the baby feral pigeon who’s had a bit of an ordeal. Found on a roadside, we aren't sure what happened, but he was very mucky! 2 baths, time in an incubator and 3 days later, he's back to his fluffy feathery self. He'll be with us for a while as he's only little.

#FlashbackFriday to 2023 because we love this cutie💕🐭 This gorgeous little Wood Mouse was caught by a cat. Luckily he only had a small wound on his side & made a brilliant recovery. It was very cold at the time with thick frosts & ice, so he had a slightly extended stay but loved his food treats!

The Jeff Beck: Guitar Collection auction on Jan 22nd ends with 3 special artworks by Andrés Mariani. They’re all signed by #JeffBeck, #JohnnyDepp. A portion of the proceeds will go to Folly, a charity proudly supported by Jeff & Sandra Beck & close friend Johnny Depp. linktr.ee/follyfundrai...

1/ On Jan 22nd, at Christie’s Jeff Beck Guitar Collection auction, this special Fender guitar, signed by the artists at the Jeff Beck Tribute concert held in London in 2023, will be sold. 100% of the hammer price will go to Folly Wildlife Rescue, a charity proudly supported by Jeff beck during his…

1/ It may be the year of the snake but for us so far it's all bats & owls! We have 3 brown long eared bats at the hospital. One was found in a house & the 2nd was in a wall that was knocked down. Their release has been delayed by the weather.

This beautiful Tawny Owl got caught in wire at Hever Castle. She had some wounds & one wing was a bit dropped. She's been on pain relief & cage rest & will move to an aviary soon to rebuild her strength. She's enjoying her meals & is quite feisty. She’s keeping staff & volunteers on their toes 😁

Flashback to 2024: We don't get many Barn Owls as their numbers are in decline due to pollution and habitat loss. This one was at death’s door on arrival with both frounce & a dropped wing. We worked round the clock & very slowly it started to come round. We were later able to release it ❤️ 🦉

Exciting news from Christie's on Instagram: 4 lots will be auctioned for Folly on 22 Jan - a guitar signed by all participants in the Jeff Beck memorial concert AND 3 paintings by Andrés Mariani signed by both Jeff Beck & #JohnnyDepp Auction Link is on our LinkTree linktr.ee/follyfundrai...

Sharing Folly Wildlife Rescue’s posts on all your socials helps to spread the word about the work we do. Here’s where to find us.

Back in 2022, we admitted a Tawny Owl with a nasty split down her beak. Thankfully, she was otherwise in very good condition. Our vet team used dental putty to repair the break. We’re pleased to tell you that her beak fully healed & we released her back to the wild!

One teaspoon of the neonicotinoids pesticide could kill 1.25 billion bees. And yet the Government could be about to let it back on English fields. Sign the petition: tell Ministers to keep this ban on bee-killing pesticides in place. act.38degrees.org.uk/act/save-our...

Happy New Year ! This post was filmed and edited by two of our care staff who released a beautiful Buzzard ❤️ Enjoy! 💕🦔🦅 Please help us to continue our work helping wildlife in Kent & Sussex by donating and by liking and sharing our posts on all your social media outlets. linktr.ee/follyfundrai...

Word of the Day is one I keep posting at the end of the year, hoping its time will come. ‘Respair’, from the 16th century, is fresh hope, and a recovery from despair. Here’s to a few drops of respair in 2025.

1/ The last admissions of 2024… A poor little toad that was found on the floor at some stables with a wound to the back of her head and… (sorry but Bluesky only allows one video per post so you will have to read on)

1/ Today we admitted Batman & Robin! Batman, a Brown Long-eared Bat, got trapped in house. He has no apparent injuries so, after a vet check, we’ll hopefully get him back in the wild soon. Meanwhile Robin lost his tail feathers to a cat & is currently unable to use his legs. He’s proved he can…

1/ It's that time of year where we like reflect on the last 12 months. Our first badger cubs, Wendy & Agnes, came in ridiculously early at the end of January kicking the foster season off with a bang. Our first baby bird of the year was a tiny robin, only a day or 2 old. Staff & volunteers…

1/ We can all relate to this badger! He's had some lovely food, is warm & cozy and is settling down for a snooze! He was found in a ditch on Christmas Eve & has some trauma to his eye. Badgers in care often go a few days without eating much (if at all) but this beautiful boy didn't waste any…

Memory from 2021: Returning home from the gym in the dark, my husband saw a hedgehog under a car in our road. He parked, grabbed his gardening gloves and walked out to move it to safety. It turned out to be a woolly hat with a large bobble 😂(Photo taken after it got light)

This magpie was very happy to be released. He was with us for a few weeks after being found on the roadside having being clipped by a car. Feeling very sorry for himself & a bit battered, he was lucky to have no serious injury. He got the tlc he needed & you can see how happy he was to fly home!

1/ Volunteers from Folly Wildlife Rescue were joined by Soul Train Choir for some fun festive singing & fundraising at Notcutts Garden Centre Tunbridge Wells today. Thank you so much to everyone for taking part and to Notcutts for presenting us with a cheque for £200! 🎄🎶🦔💕

1/ Yesterday we were called about a Buzzard caught in barbed wire 5 mins from our hospital. A regular volunteer with a passion for birds of prey was on site & went to rescue it. The wire was caught in the wing &, not wanting to cause further damage, they cut the bird free leaving the wire…
