Re-activated some debug info to begin tackling the long standing "conga line" problem in my vehicle path finding. Simply put - I never made it consider other traffic on the same path, so a fast truck just drives up the backside of a slow tank without trying to match its pace. #gamedev

Thunder Helix is now #steamdeck verified 🥳 #flightsim #lowpoly 🚁 store.steampowered.com/app/1906230/...

#solodev is hard?

so that’s how milk is made.. 🐄 #gamedev

Just got an email from Valve to tell me Thunder Helix is Steam Deck Verified ✅️ That'll show up on the store page soon. 🥳 #steamdeck

Started to add roads into the city, so enemy vehicles can roam around while you try and find and eliminate them all. #gamedev #solodev #flightsim 🚁

Just a reminder that Thunder Helix is only 20 bux ;) store.steampowered.com/app/1906230/...

Input Prompts has been updated to version 1.2 adding support for Nintendo Switch 2! #nintendoswitch2 This pack is free to download, and use in your game(s) ✨ kenney.nl/assets/input...

Added the skyscraper to the city map. It's huge !

Made a skyscraper for the Thunder Helix city map. I started out with the Burj Khalifa in mind but it ended up looking more like the Empire State Building, oh well 😄 #gamedev #lowpoly

Found an old link to the classic #gamedev algorithm I used to pack my sprite frames into a bigger rectangle. HTH (Pro tip: Works even better if you sort your images by descending area.) blackpawn.com/texts/lightm...

Some more information on "that one explosion" used in many many games from the 90's, 2000's www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNxy...

Packed frames of my explosion sprite also look like an in-game screenshot 🥳 I've mangled and trimmed away so much of the original video to get to this point, but I think it looks right for a 90's style game. #gamedev

Saw one of those "mindful colouring books" in the supermarket this morning. Inspired me to work on "That Explosion" (for a future project) Converting to 256 colours left some fringing, and as I'm not intending to use alpha blending (DOS style VFX), I'm going in by hand to erase it. A relaxing task!

Studying some music by Stéphane Picq for Cryo's Dune. I saw for myself one of the cool features of their sound driver: automation of the FM modulator. My importer isn't currently smart enough to recognise it so it makes new instruments for each volume setting -- but in reality these are all one.

15 years ago I uploaded my first game asset to OpenGameArt.org - and I haven’t stopped since! It’s been an incredible journey, all possible thanks to the #gamedev community. Huge thanks to all of you! Here’s to another 15 years of #gameassets! 🥂

Added VGM import support to my OPL2 composer - it's not perfect at rebuilding the notes, but decent enough for educational purposes. 🙉

City Kit: Suburban, City Kit: Commercial and City Kit: Industrial are out now in early access for Kenney Club members! ✨ They'll soon release for free, for everyone. www.patreon.com/posts/124783...

Shared my OPL2 Composer with some close friends (of different skill levels) and got some great feedback about points of confusion. Mostly needing to account for modern expectations in a post-MIDI world. Today, added a nice suggestion of a turn-based step record function - like a tracker or TB303.

Here's a conversion of the Desert Strike theme tune that I made for the Adlib card using my OPL2 composer tool. Converting songs is a great way to learn music imo. #gamedev

Started writing a manual for OPL2 Composer. 🥳 My plan is to put this up on itch.io when I'm done (in 'pay what you want' mode), hopefully it'll be a useful tool for folks wanting a nice retro DOS sound for their #gamedev projects and, FYI, also don't mind rolling their sleeves up a little.

This patch selector was sorely needed. Navigating using +/- buttons was pretty tedious ! In previous shots you might have seen A B C D E F buttons - this was a bad work-around 🙂 -- I had 6 selections and they acted as a quick swap. This new version is better, so the 6 slots thing is gone.
