petition to create a “show me a random game from the past” function on mlb tv, with filters for season, game excitement (based on wpa or something), division rivalries, day/night, etc sometimes i just wanna get dropped into a random game & enjoy, but it’s too much effort to pick “the right one”

dear boss, unfortunately I have some forearm tightness and will miss work for the next 12-18 months, so sorry

Part 2 of my underrated/overrated series: infielders.

everyone saying that Vlad Jr isn’t worth anywhere close to $600M. but idk, if he has another .323/.396/.544 year and hits 50 bombs and steals 70 bases and plays gold glove defense at shortstop and pitches a couple no-hitters, he could get there imo

Here’s 20 of the best individual starting pitcher seasons since 2000, put on my LASR scale. Check out the post on Reddit to see all the complaints about pitchers that didn’t make the list!

if only all professions would have people constantly ranking and debating the Top 100 young folks hoping to do that job someday as intensely as baseball

proud to say I hit a double in my first PA in high school & stepped off the base afterward & got tagged out & it has only kept me up about half the nights since

who would win in a fight, fangraphs or bbref

highly suggest watching spring training games AS IF they are playoff games. jump to the ceiling on home runs. scream at the tv when the starting pitcher is pulled after 2 perfect innings. wear the same pair of socks until april. don’t be let down by the lack of excitement. create the excitement

you can’t tell me there’s a service time manipulation problem in MLB when freakin Air Bud became a free agent after only 6/7 of a season

Over at Call to the Pen, I've started a series of overrated/underrated players. This first piece analyzes several outfielders whose public perceptions deserve a shift one way or another.

my pick for NL ROY this year is Paul Skenes. also my dvr is backed up about a year so please no spoilers

On this date 20 years ago, MVP Baseball 2005 was released. What are your favorite memories from the game? Here’s mine.

gimme your baseball names that make you say “baseball fucking rocks”

love how the red sox players are just creating bad press for the hell of it. like a reporter will ask "do you enjoy playing that position?" and they'll respond "yeah, I'd bang breslow's wife. next question."

4 of the most dominant strikeout pitchers in MLB history, presented on my LASR scale

love how in spring training we all just get hyped to watch dudes get ready to do their jobs. like imagine if we were all sharing videos of gardeners putting on their overalls with captions like “👀… Garden season is almost here… 👀”

"1. I love baseball because I have always loved baseball. I’m not sure which player or game or book was my first – all I know is, my memories begin and baseball is already there."

sure, spring training is meaningless, but so is everything else

Mr Incredible should’ve chosen baseball

currently accepting applications for a defense-only fantasy baseball league

Alex Bregman LASR stats

pretty wild that the mindset of an entire generation of baseball has been built upon scott hatteberg’s patience

I've made a few posts about my LASR (League-Adjusted Standardized Rating) project, but the screenshots from Tableau were too ugly to show off. I put in a little "graphic design" time & now I'm more confident about sharing the graphs. I explain the changes & show off some examples here:

spiderman should’ve chosen baseball

highly suggest we all stay out of pete alonso’s way during the HR derby this year

my time on the internet these days is half “michael toglia home/road splits” and half “how to stop world from ending please”

yeahhh I could use a good ol strike em out throw em out kiss em out triple play right here

Since baseball is known to be incredibly predictable and prophecies such as these absolutely never look silly in hindsight, it’s time for me to pronounce the starting pitchers who will prove to be undeniable aces in 2025.

Introducing advanced LASR stats for Pitchers! As a reminder, LASR (League-Adjusted Standardized Rating) is a system I created that translates all stats onto the same 20-80 scouting scale.

If Kyle Schwarber gets to bat leadoff for YEARS, the rest of us should get to do it for 2 weeks, minimum

BREAKING: You have agreed to terms on a 2-second, $0M contract with Dopamine upon reading the word breaking in all caps

If I'm not discussing Tim Spooneybarger on my deathbed, something has gone horribly wrong
