🌱 Let Us Grow – A community garden taking root 🌱 We’re really pleased to see the Let Us Grow project—developed with GURCA—gaining momentum. Produce will be used to support the community centre, Bite & Blether lunches, the monthly market, and potentially local veg boxes. #CommunityGarden

🌳Last week, we were pleased to host a Woodland Habitat Impact Assessment Workshop (WHIA) run by @naturescot.bsky.social Nathan Berrie at Tayvallich Estate. IA valuable opportunity to introduce a simplified methodology for assessing the impacts of grazing herbivores on woodland habitat: ‘WHIA Lite’.

🦪 Marine rewilding. Last week we shared the story of how, even in protected waters, nature is in decline. If you missed the films, we’ve now brought them together into one story. ▶️ Watch the full film here: youtu.be/q3JNNnV5xr0 #MarineRewilding #NativeOysters

🦪 How can we bring back native oysters?  In the final film of our oyster series, David Smyth, Highlands Rewilding’s Marine Rewilding Lead, shares how we can help native oysters return to Loch Sween, where recent years have seen a dramatic decline in their population and habitat. #MarineRewilding

🦪 What happened to the native oysters? In part two of our series, marine biologist David Smyth, Highlands Rewilding’s Marine Rewilding Lead, explores the devastating decline of native oysters at Loch Sween, likely due to unregulated harvesting.  👉 Do you have a story about oysters near you?

We are afraid the butterflies are not alone - native oysters are in trouble too but, as with the butterflies, hope is not lost. 📽️ Watch the 1st of 3 film here: bsky.app/profile/high... #Rewilding #Butterflies #NativeOysters #Biodiversity #NatureRecovery #MarineConservation #HopeInAction

🌊 Where are all the oysters? Can a Marine Protected Area still fail its most iconic species? In this first of three short films, marine biologist David Smyth, Highlands Rewilding’s Marine Rewilding Lead, takes us along the shore and below the waves of Loch Sween to reveal a troubling truth.

Farming and rewilding are often seen as opposites. But what if they could work together to restore nature? At Highlands Rewilding, we’re demonstrating how regenerative agriculture can be a powerful tool for ecosystem restoration. #RegenerativeAgriculture #Biodiversity #SustainableFarming #Rewilding

Healthy forests start from the ground up! 🌱🌳 As we work to restore Scotland’s precious Atlantic rainforest, understanding the soil beneath our feet is just as important as the trees we plant. Soil surveys guide our rewilding efforts—ensuring the right trees are planted in the right places.

🌍🌿 Happy World Rewilding Day! 🌿🌍 This year’s theme—‘Rewilding Together’—is at the heart of what we do at Highlands Rewilding. Rewilding isn’t just about landscapes; it’s about the people restoring nature. #WorldRewildingDay #RewildingTogether #NatureRecovery #Biodiversity #EcosystemRestoration

🌍🌿 Happy World Rewilding Day! 🌿🌍 Rewilding is most powerful when we do it together. Every action brings us one step closer to a healthier, wilder world. 👉 Watch, share, and join the movement! Let’s rewild together. #WorldRewildingDay #RewildingTogether #NatureRecovery #CommunityEngagement

A tiny triumph for rewilding! 🐜🌿 Last spring, we carefully translocated wood ants to help restore ecosystem balance on Bunloit estate. Many of you followed their journey—now, after a long winter, how have they fared? #Rewilding #Biodiversity #EcosystemRestoration #WoodAnts #WorldRewildingDay

Foraging and Heritage Tours combine coastal foraging, immersive sea swimming 🏊‍♂️, a forager’s lunch 🥗, and place-based storytelling 📖. We are delighted to be hosting these immersive experiences at Tayvallich! Find out more:

Spring is in the air🌿🦡🔊 Sound on for a glimpse into nocturnal badger life. Our camera traps captured the sights and sounds of the mating season, followed by grass and leaf collection for nest building. A true sign that spring has arrived in the wild! #Badgers #Wildlife #Rewilding #SpringAwakening

On #WorldWildlifeDay, it's wonderful to share some of the extraordinary fauna we have captured on film over Highlands Rewilding estates. Even though Scotland is one of the most nature depleted counties in Europe we are lucky enough to have some fantastic wildlife to protect and help restore. #nature

Did you know a hectare of #seagrass will trap carbon up to 35% quicker than a hectare of rainforest?🤔 David Smyth, marine rewilding lead at Highlands Rewilding, explores how this habitat supports a high level of biodiversity, acts as a coastal buffer for storms, and can sequester carbon quickly.

BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, has officially recognised that natural capital must be integrated into its investment models. This quiet but powerful signal will redefine global asset valuations. www.fssustainability.com.au/blackrock-mo... #investing @jeremyleggett.bsky.social

Pine martens eat squirrels. So why are they not a threat to our native reds? Find out more in this short film narrated by Beldorney ranger Louise McLaren. NB No grey squirrels were used in this film...because we don't have any! scottishsquirrels.org.uk/2018/03/15/p... @naturescot.bsky.social

Upcoming #Volunteer Day this Friday Great to see so many smiles from our Beldorney volunteers, braving wind & rain to help with weeding & tree-tubes. We are organising an additional volunteer day: Friday 28th 9:30am-3:30pm. Find out more & join us👉 www.highlandsrewilding.co.uk/events-and-m...

A weekend well spent, and a big thank you to everyone who helped with the clear up after Storm Eowyn to make this area safe. Many thanks to @ewanpaterson @erikriddell @rowanaitchison @tayvallichvillagehallcommittee @tayvallichinitiative @jeremyleggett.bsky.social #stormeowyn #timber #scotland

🪹 Made from Bunloit's non-native conifers, these nest boxes are being installed and monitored to collect data on the breeding success of different bird species 🐦 feeding into wider data-gathering on the effect of environmental change on the number of fledglings birds can rear. #NationalNestBoxWeek

Director of Operations, Keir Smith's explains forestry thinning operations at Bunloit. This work encourages wider biodiversity by allowing more light into this Scots Pine woodland and its understorey.  #forestry #rewilding #trees #woodlands #biodiversity @jeremyleggett.bsky.social

🎶Why are we using audio sensors? Join Penelope as she sets up audiomoths to record winter bird species at Tayvallich, a diverse coastal estate with ideal habitats for many birds including geese🪿 #birding @btobirds.bsky.social @openacousticdevices.info 🔗https://www.highlandsrewilding.co.uk/tayvallich

*🔊Sound On🔊* One of the interesting things about camera trap footage is being able to observe animal behaviour 👀. Here we have two yearling sika deer rutting. This could be practice rutting, brought on by elevated testosterone levels at this time of year (December footage). #rewilding #nature #deer

With current consultation on whether biodiversity credits could be implemented in the Woodland Carbon Code and Peatland Code, now is the time to consider if OSPREY could help you consider the value of your natural capital and ecosystem services. @hannahrudman.bsky.social @jeremyleggett.bsky.social
