Imagining that uncertainty front-loading is likely to continue. The companies that stockpiled the most goods will fare the recent import drop-off best. It is a lesson that will be projected forward.

Yep. People have started to appreciate (and question) the fact that we use 30-40% of our US corn supply for ethanol, but it flies under the radar that we now use 40-50% of our US soybean oil supply for biodiesel. BTW all this supplies only like 5% of US transport fuel. Inefficient resource use.

This is an important thread. I want to add that UT State senator Karen Kwan & the Chinese Railroad Workers Descendants Association have worked tirelessly to recognize the stories & sacrifices of Chinese rail workers. Last year’s 155th reenactment of Golden Spike paid a long deserved recognition.
