fasteignir.visir.is/property/755... Næs hús en ég myndi aldrei þora að búa þarna. Þarna gætu dularfullir atburðir átt sér stað ( @hildur.bsky.social )

Afternoon

On Wednesday I was the first to report Leland Dudek was on the verge of losing his job at the Social Security Administration when he was suddenly promoted to acting commissioner by Elon Musk. Thursday I published a story with more details. I’ll let you guess if I got any credit in this Post story:

It was never going to be just trans people.

Good morning

WYOMING: “Thank you, Madam chairman.” “I prefer ‘Mister’ chairman.” “Well you all voted preferred pronouns cannot be compelled speech.”

Weekend reading by @hildur.bsky.social. I went to Iceland in 2006 to cover the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival, and I fell in love with the country. Looking forward to returning to Reykjavik in this novel, which looks fantastic!

Northern lights tonight

Just finished The Night Guest by Hildur Knútsdóttir. Sooooo good. Highly recommend. @hildur.bsky.social

Evening

😭

“Get up? Why?”

Still easing my way on here, so I thought I’d introduce myself more with some photos. I am a self taught undertaker in the UK. I’ve written a book published in US and UK about my work. This is photo is of a street funeral I did in 2012 for Michael a local homeless man who died on our streets.

This is interesting. Continuing to think about the Temple of the White Rat, Bishop Beartongue (who is sort of my template for a Practical Good Person who can see the big picture) is not at all a centrist, but she might be considered an incrementalist.

New read arrived by mail today and I’ve already started it. It’s very intriguing and I’m enjoying it so far. Things are getting a touch creepy! (Which I love, haha.) Thank you, @hildur.bsky.social ! I’m trying to pace myself, but I tend to devour books I like so I may be done tomorrow, haha.😂

Hot from the Icelandic news: An inexperienced bus driver accidentally drove a bus out to a sodden field of grass in Reykjavík and it got stuck there. It's the most read story of the day.

Good morning (or more accurately, almost noon)

Oh yes, Homer’s famous “Tes Thdpssssps.” 👍🏻

My primary motivations to write: 1) To somehow get rid of all the weird stuff and stories that pile up in my head, or otherwise me and reality might very well part ways. 2) I honestly can not even picture myself doing anything else. Like … what would I even be if I weren’t a writer? I don’t know!

9 degrees and only raining a little in Reykjavík today. Feels like summer.

To keep fragile or small items protected, some of our material is stored in boxes like these. This tiny ‘Book of Nouns’ from 1800 may seem normal size on the shelf, but in reality it’s only 6cm tall! [C.C. 423 BOO]

Legwarmer

Warm, sweet rye bread soup with raisins and whipped cream (good old Icelandic cuisine) enjoyed with some fine Spanish wine. I stand by this pairing!

Brazil's attorney general has formally charged far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro and 33 others over an alleged coup attempt after his 2022 election loss. https://u.afp.com/Soze
