" 'This is going to be great television,' Donald Trump remarked at the end. Sure. And as they slipped into the icy depths, the captain of the Titanic probably assured his passengers that this would make a great movie some day." www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Just heard from a friend who is a true hero veteran. His company was destroyed in 30 days by the VA when they canceled 5 contracts without notice. 23 Americans mostly veterans out of work and a veteran owned small business destroyed. For nothing. They're dismantling the VA not "reforming" it.

This morning at Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HQ in DC as mandatory return to office began, this video played on loop for ~5 mins on screens throughout the building, per agency source. Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off so sent people to every floor to unplug TVs.

no the fuck we are NOT making “LGBQ+” a thing and if I see any of you motherfuckers using that acronym it’s on sight Marsha P. Johnson did not smash in the windshield of a police car for this

Adams must be removed. The city cannot sustain being governed for nearly a year by a Mayor who is being coerced by Trump admin in order to escape charges. This corruption poses a real threat to the people of the city. He should have resigned a while ago, but will not. So it’s time for him to go.

Hear me out — If parents call colleges freaked about their FAFSA data being leaked, schools may have to issue statements — which would reach a whole lot more families about how warped this is. Organizing isn’t always calling electeds. Sometimes it’s just calling people with a bigger megaphone.

I think this is the third time I've read "Today I Am Paul" by Martin Shoemaker. And every time, it hits me like a ton of feathers. A tough hit, but just soft enough. And I'm never sure if my tears are sad, happy, or both.

Fed up with Meta? Avoiding Instagram or Facebook isn’t enough to stop Meta from harvesting and profiting from your private information. Here’s how to limit Meta’s ability to monetize your personal data.

I am a former incarcerated firefighter. I served in a California fire camp from 2009 to 2012. Misinformation is afire on the internet, so here are facts about the prison firefighter program, all in one place. A thread.

Stuff the public needs to hear and understand: Knee replacement surgery has a much higher regret rate than gender-affirming surgery, too. The media could help explain this instead of just both sidesing the issue or worse all the time.

Oh. Oh my god. That is absolutely amazing. I wonder what other basic games can be mistaken for real life. Unrelated, I can totally take down a full dragon on my own.

The ovulation tracking app, "Ovia", now mandates you identify what state you live in. Delete immediately and warn anyone who might need to know.

So, we’re going to ask Tulsi Gabbard all about her support for Bashar al-Assad, right? She’s not going to cruise through confirmation without the world knowing why the hell she ever backed him, right?

Call me crazy, but I think Justin Sun, a Chinese national being prosecuted for fraud by the SEC, sending Trump $18 million should be a bigger story The direct enrichment of Trump by a foreign national weeks before he takes office has merited no coverage in the NYT or Washington Post

Dinner alone reminds me of the little things I don't notice when dining with my husband. Namely, the inner commentary on nearby people's conversations and actions.

Hippos kill between 500 and 3000 humans per year because while we tend to view them as slow, peaceful, river-dwelling giants, it is easy to forget that they are also highly skilled marksmen.

Just realized I judge a hotel room by how quickly the AC can cool down to my preferred arctic environment.

So @lpm.org and Kentucky Public Radio dug through more than 100 sources cited in support of the Safer Kentucky Act. Many of the so-called sources had nothing to do with the bill. She spoke to half a dozen researchers. Some were surprised to be quoted at all. Check it out. www.lpm.org/news/2024-02...
