Annie washing up before a rainy #caturday snooze. #blackcat #catsofbluesky

Not surprising, but maddening and disappointing all the same. grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...

We're disappointed to see Ben Barres's powerful book "The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist" among the ~400 titles removed from the Naval Academy Library. Needless to say, we're proud to have published his book and will keep it — and his memory — alive.

After another tumultuous week at my workplace, I am going to follow Annie’s lead and take a long #caturday nap. #blackcat #catsofbluesky

New post on two Ensemble Studio Theatre productions on the history of women and medicine @nursingclio.bsky.social. Thanks to Rich Kelley for reaching out to me to discuss "Las Borinqueñas" last April. #histsex #histmed nursingclio.org/2025/03/26/c...

I'm really proud of Jason Chernesky for creating this oral history initiative with @oah.org We will need to understand the full ramifications of these months and these decisions 🗃️: www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

‘Teenage Intimacies’ is now officially out in the world! It’s a history of teenage sexuality in postwar England that speaks to ideas of growing up, adolescence, friendship, family, identity, culture and education. It’s been a long time coming but I’m really proud of the end result! 🗃️ #histsex

Letter signed by members of the Columbia History Department urging resistance to the Trump Administration's efforts to dictate university policy. "Should this control be realized, here or elsewhere, it would make any real historical scholarship, teaching, and intellectual community impossible."

The Unreliable Nation, out in paperback today. U.S. threats to Canadian sovereignty, against the backdrop of Soviet expansionism … told as a history of nature and technology and in the early Cold War. @mitpress.bsky.social mitpress.mit.edu/978026205120...

Some of my Columbia Law School colleagues and I offer our thoughts on legal issues with the Administration's March 13, 2025 letter to our University's president, and its threat to academic freedom. balkin.blogspot.com/2025/03/a-ti...

Contemplative #caturday with Annie. #blackcat #catsofbluesky

I have just about had my fill of bad news this week, and the possibility of defunding #AHRQ would really take the cake. The absence of their broadly scoped work on insurance, health practice, and policy would leave a massive and dangerous gap in knowledge of health systems.

It’s been an especially hard week for me and everyone in the federal grants world. I aspire to rest like Annie here on #caturday afternoon and recharge for the next round of challenges. #blackcat

I’m feeling proud that these words are central to nursing science and the history of gender and sexuality. Shows that we’re doing important work that small-minded people are afraid of. #histsex #nursing
