The 2025 HITS calendar has arrived with pictures of flowers, landscapes and special places at HITS. The theme centers around the vibrant colors of our garden, bringing a fresh, inspiring look to the year ahead! Let the calendar remind you of the colors surrounding us all year long.

We’ve reached the last calendar page for this year, and it's becoming more and more common to see our beloved HITS duck frozen up in the pond again. We're getting ready for the last events and duties this year before hanging up the new calendar. Stay warm!

November is here and so is the cold weather in Heidelberg. Small creatures are hiding under a blanket of autumn leaves, as might be this Flower Scarab. Though it’s rather uncommon to spot one this late in the year, with its shiny carapace it's a real jewel in the HITS garden.

Spooky spiders are up to mischief at HITS. Did you know that it’s considered good luck to see a spider on Halloween? Well, maybe you want to go outside and look for one, as there's nothing like a nice breath of fresh scare! Have a spooktacular night. Happy Halloween from HITS!

Today, we're at #Wissenswerte, THE forum for science journalism in the German-speaking world. If you're around, don’t miss our Science Insight at 4pm on Machine Learning & proteins by HITS researcher Leif Seute. Venue: Heidelberg University or stop by our booth on the top floor.

Yesterday, we hosted a group of enthusiastic young women at HITS from the Zukunfts-Orientierungs-Akademie (ZOrA) Heidelberg. The girls listened to scientific talks by our HITSters and had the chance to chat with them afterwards in a relaxed environment. What a great initiative!👍
