A first for me today. I saw spawning frogs on my walk to work this morning. Usually it’s just the spawn. #nature #spring #wildlife #frogs

[New post] The bees, like the beekeeper, are preparing for the season ahead. Much of this early work is done by the — now very old — overwintered workers. What are the signs of spring to look out for and how to protect these bees from starvation at this critical time. buff.ly/GEoj3ar #beekeeping

We shall be hosting our #AGM on Sat 26Apr at SRUC Barony Campus in Dumfries. We’ve decided to move our AGM around the country to ensure we meet as many #members as possible. To find out more & to register your attendance please visit scottishbeekeepers.org.uk/event/sba-an... #scottishbeekeepers

What a lovely way to #StandWithUkraine

Instead of sending flowers – which are often grown abroad, packaged in plastic, have a high carbon footprint, and last just a couple of weeks – send herbs! Many herbs have nectar-rich blooms that attract bees and butterflies too 🐝 More eco gift ideas: bit.ly/3F0eWv2

The polar extremes of Glasgow City centre. Within a stride of each other. Great night out with work colleagues, but this old’un needs her bed. #glasgow

Awful news, but sadly not unexpected. 2024 was the first year in which I didn't see a single Red-tailed #bumblebee queen or worker...

I heard someone talking on the radio this morning about leaving #dog hair out for #birds to use in their nests *If pets have been treated with certain flea treatments, this could kill the chicks* Now seems a good time to repost this article 👇 #neonicotinods www.theguardian.com/environment/...

So very happy to see this excellent appointment

Very cool blog here harishsnotebook.wordpress.com/2025/02/23/t... Endlessly pursuing efficiency damages underlying relationships. And it's our invisible relational infrastructure that offers resilience & flex in the system. We should value it more. Thanks @janestr.bsky.social for sharing this.

Each honey bee has unique ways of dancing the waggle dance. Could the success of the waggle dance be related to this uniqueness? This study reveals the waggle is a diverse form of communication that helps improve finding food. sciencedaily.com/releases/2025/… Image: Emmanuel Boutet

White Clover is a pretty, low growing wildflower which flowers from May to autumn 🌱 It's loved by Bumblebees, Butterflies and Moths 🐝🦋 You can even grow it as a lawn instead of grass as long as it's not mowed too often and is allowed to flower💚 (see ALT text on photo for lots more info 😊) #MHHSBD

What a day. Sunshine ☀️ some gentle warmth & a brunch with the lovely Manira. Time flew by (and too much has flown by since we caught up). Won’t leave it as long next time.

Been doing some gentle spring clearing today. Especially where the spring bulbs are coming through & flowering. Love the Witch Hazel in all its subtle but look at me flowers. #springisnear

@suzyaspleybooks.bsky.social will appreciate this

My day started with an early morning walk. By chance, I happened to look back, if I hadn’t I would have missed this peeking through the trees. It was starting to hail & sleet. Then breakfast & an 4 hour gab fest with a good friend. #timeslowingdown

If you plant a wildlife hedge instead of building a fence, it could help hedgehogs, hoverflies, bats, dunnocks, bumblebees, mice, moths, coal tits, butterflies, dormice, blackbirds, frogs, fieldfares, beetles, robins, solitary bees… 🐝 Here’s how: bit.ly/40YAjG7 #nature #biodiversity

What’s the opposite of Happy Bunnies? These 🐰🐰🐰 getting their health checks. They fought me to go in the carrier. Then were the most well behaved loving rabbits in the vets. They ran outside & into their hiding place when home. I will get #bunshun for weeks. Yet healthy for geriatric #rescuerabbits

It's #NationalNestBoxWeek- and when it comes to looking after your garden friends, we've got you covered! Let’s kick off with the all-important do's and don’ts when choosing a nest box. 👇 Share & keep nesting birds safe:

For most of the year, Grey Herons are seen alone, but around February they head to communal nesting sites, known as heronries. Here they will lay their eggs, with chicks hatching in March and April, making them one of the earliest nesters in Scotland. 📷 Ben Andrew

I loved it in Pinocchio, but in real life... not so much. 👀 😱 #WhaleOfA-Tale

Please help bees, butterflies and birds by reducing the mowing this year! By leaving a patch of grass in your garden to flower you'll be helping wildlife while reducing effort, cost and carbon emissions. Cartoon courtesy of @sepponet.bsky.social #nature #wildlife #biodiversity

I don't want to be on ghastly x anymore but it's where a lot of my sales come from so this post is a brazen request for shares to spread the word about my work on a kinder platform that isn't run by a dangerous megalomaniac! www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Sara... #selfemployedartist #ukgifthour #shopindie
