Another similarity between Badenoch & Corbyn is tendency to dismiss opponents rather than take them seriously as people who hold different views for good reasons. Corbyn saw opponents as less morally virtuous. Badenoch sees them as stupid. In both cases, they have a fig leaf for their own laziness

This is true. A pal of mine who is a policeman went to a Scottish island recently to investigate a missing person and when the locals found out he was a Christian they stuck him in a giant human-shaped willow branch construction and burned him alive.

Maybe I wasn’t clear about this. I wanted more egg and no plane crash, not many plane crash and no egg.

If a woman had 13 kids by four different men, used ketamine and spent all her time running a shadow presidency, I’m not sure our society would celebrate her.

"You're not my surreal Dad!"

Ernst Stavro Blofeld realizes his latest secret base has room for way more kitties than just the one lap cat and rebrands SPECTRE as the Splendid Protector of Cats Treated Really Exceptionally. #MakeAVillainWholesome

Your occasional reminder that these months of tantrums are about farmers being asked to pay *half the rate of inheritance tax the rest of you are liable for*.

they can take over the entire country but they can never actually be cool and it will eat at them forever

This is so good.

you just can't get performances like Robert Shaw as Quint in Jaws these days. we have lost the technology to create alcoholics of that caliber.

Don't threaten me with a good time

By the way "The Big Short" is mandatory viewing IMO. It's dramatized so if you're looking for a documentary on the 2008 financial crisis you can probably do better but it very much captures the important lessons of how soulless and STUPID big money people are.

Crisis as normal? Since 2008. - Financial crisis - Euro sovereign crisis - Brexit crisis (UK specific) - Covid - Ukraine / energy - International trade (now)

We’ve been watching Wolf Hall, a fascinating study of how the fragile male ego of a fickle, greedy despot creates a culture of deep cruelty and mistrust, where everyone lives in fear of saying the wrong thing. Thank goodness we’ve moved on from those times.

Trump showing the same degree of seriousness and preparation as the Brexiters here. It always ends well.

"The Leave campaign deliberately didn’t set out any positive vision of what Brexit would actually look like, which allows Brexiteers of every stripe to say that our current existence simply isn’t what they were asking you to vote for." www.theneweuropean.co.uk/james-ball-b...

I dunno, it’s insane that Trump is gonna single-handedly cause a mass food shortage. Between this and the plane crashes, that’s the Republican platform in a nutshell: everything holding society together will be eliminated just to line the pockets of the handful who already have everything

i just cannot get over how much the administration’s response to the crash shows a profound disrespect for the lives of the people they are supposed to serve
