Look, if you say to me what else could I have done, I'm going to brainstorm a list of about 5 actions you could've taken instead and then eight to ten hours later realize you were not seriously asking, the first, second or third time you said it so I didn't really need to repeat my list or add to it

Do you read Kaleidotrope’s weekly newsletter? It’s full of news and assorted bits you might not find here, like notes from the authors about their stories and poems. It’s completely free—you don’t even have to subscribe, unless you want to read it by email! www.patreon.com/kaleidotrope...

I'm: -wtf is a plot -knows ending, writes toward it -ends up in strange places -but that's ok because this better -copy & paste is my friend -Probably knows what color socks MC wears -writes things as they come -vacillates between writes everything in order & completely out of order (WIP dependant)

Re: the whole editors know in a sentence or 2 if a submitted story is a "no" Everyone's clear that "no" doesn't mean story bad, right? "No" = doesn't fit the vibe they're seeking As a reader I can tell if a story's likely to be my thing or not in the first paragraph. Whether promise is kept...eh

ICYMI: I released my 2024 recommended reading list a little while ago and you can check out the 108 stories that I really liked here: www.patreon.com/posts/2025-r...

A list of stories you might enjoy... (includes my only pub for 2024: kaleidotrope.net/archives-2/a... )

“Friend of the Fanilae” by @hlfullerton.bsky.social (Kaleidotrope, Autumn ‘24) “shows insight and care in approaching some very heavy themes, and manages to be interesting and entertaining in a very memorable way.”

A reminder that we are only open to submissions from authors we have previously published in Hexagon or MYRIAD! 🧡 Open until January 15. Email submissions directly to [email protected].

Grocery shopped just before lunch (because I needed food to eat for lunch) and bought ALL the food And for anyone thinking that's why you shouldn't shop hungry NO When I do shop before meals that's when my brain's like we can make this, we can have that and I'm inspired to cook & buy quick fixes

Salvation Guess I own this word for 2025. Expect some reactions coming your way

Reader problems: if I read 6 more books by year's end, I'll get the digital hoard under 300. *Adds 3 books if I read 9 more books by year's end, I'll get the digital hoard under 300. *Sees interesting book(s), year ends If I read 209 ebooks in 2025, my eTBR will be under-

If you like these lovely words, they're even better in the stories they came from. kaleidotrope.net

So... things have been kinda rough in the Wolfmoor household this last month and a half... 😩 I've put up some of my ebooks on my Ko-Fi page, two for pay-what-you-want and two half-priced (also pwyw beyond that) — any shares appreciated <3 ko-fi.com/mercwolfmoor...

New scratching post day. Tired self out. (Pulled the other off its base. Testing this one's limits.) Merry #caturday to all but especially to Slynx

Looking for stories to read? Here's one by me that might be more timely now than when I wrote it

Beauty may only be skin deep—but what strange, untold depths!—in @hlfullerton.bsky.social's new story "Friend of the Fanilae." kaleidotrope.net/autumn-2024/...

Lazy Saturday for me and cat #caturday

I never know where to start with the 5 authors/5 books because I could list names for days BUT it's the tail end of 2024 so: 5 authors I’ve read 5 books by THIS YEAR: John Sandford Ann Cleeves CJ Box AK Faulkner Gregory Ashe Mostly borrowed from the library. Thanks Library for keeping me in books!

Kaleidotrope closes to fiction and poetry submissions after November 30. And while I have not made an official announcement about this, I am very unlikely to be open again until 2026. So if you're interest, I'd advise you to act accordingly.

Since it's almost Turkey Day in the US I'm resharing my only pubbed story from 2024. It's a little about food and alot about something else "Friend of the Fanilae" @kaleidotrope.bsky.social #2024ShortStories kaleidotrope.net/autumn-2024/...

Optimist: the cup is half full. Pessimist: the cup is half empty Airport security: Yeah, those cups are over 6oz so they need to be ALL empty

I'm running on 98% ibuprofen and 2% caffeine this week and I may have to up both those numbers

I told Chazz Palminteri that he looked liked Chazz Palminteri Realized it wasn't some guy cosplaying but the actual guy and added "But you are the guy"

Ok. This is one I can do

Submissions are open until the 30th for the final submission call of this year’s MYRIAD zines, Nocturnal, guest-edited by @thesuiway.bsky.social! 🌙

The "Describe yourself using 5 things that are probably in your purse/backpack" thing makes it very clear to me that most people do not have 5 (or maybe more) backpacks that they chose and pack depending on their plans for the day Me: 1 work 2 camera 3 overnight/weekend 4 favorite 5 old fav 6...

Just backed up my writing files, something I've been meaning to do for *mumbles* A nice little bonus was discovering some files I thought I'd lost when my last computer death spiraled. I periodically regret forgetting to copy them & turns out I've had them backed up the whole time #ClassicMe

You look like you could use a cat pic Me too, buddy, me too

I've cut back on the writing/story subbing thing & had forgotten the part where you search the grinder for open pubs for a story you want to fling at a slushpile & somewhere between reading guidelines & playing matchmaker you submit a slew of stories (7!) but not the one the search was based on

Kaleidotrope is now open to fiction and poetry submissions.

Not to scare ya this Halloween, but there’s a whole issue of Kaleidotrope waiting to be read! kaleidotrope.net

Once again I remember the day AFTER a themed submission closes that I have a completed story that fits a themed call and could've tossed something on the old slushpile

Kaleidotrope re-opens to fiction and poetry submissions the day after Halloween!

NYers claim how bagels and pizza are better in NYC. Lesser known is that the apples are better in NYS Grocery stores outside of NY carry garbage apples. I've never had such terrible apples. And red delicious are for making bowls of fruit look pretty. For fucks sake Don't eat them

Authors, what's your plot concept process like? Here's- Wait...there's supposed to be process? AND a plot?!? FML

Show me your pet(s) and what they're named after. Almost every pet I've had has been named after an attribute as opposed to a tribute ( and I have a bad habit of using verbs as nouns)
