With the elections of Dave Parker and Ichiro Suzuki, there are now 69 Hall of Fame outfielders. If Andruw Jones was voted in tomorrow, he would rank 23rd in career WAA (35.9), right in below Tony Gwynn (36.8), and above Tim Raines & Reggie Jackson (35.4).

Andruw is absolutely crushing this year's goal.

Looking beyond the outfield, there are 68 position players who had more Career & Peak rWAR than Jones (8 CF, 5 LF, 10 RF, 8 1B, 10 2B, 8 3B, 7 SS, 2 C). 60 Hall of Famers Barry Bonds Alex Rodriguez Mike Trout Mookie Betts Joey Votto Albert Pujols Robinson Cano @hofutley.bsky.social

There are 23 outfielders (8 CF, 5 LF, 10 RF) that have managed to pass Andruw Jones in by Career rWAR (62.7) and Peak7 WAR (46.4) 20 Hall of Famers Barry Bonds Mike Trout Mookie Betts

13 players had 700 XBH through age 30 Hank Aaron, Stan Musial, Ken Griffey Jr., Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, Frank Robinson, Eddie Mathews, and Joe Medwick are Hall of Famers. Alex Rodriguez would've been. Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, and Andruw Jones will be.

Andruw Jones is just one of eight players in MLB history with 100+ fielding runs and 400+ home runs. Power fielders are rare.

Shortly after Willie Mays died in June, @tylerkepner.bsky.social asked who I thought deserved the title of "The Greatest Living Hall of Famer." We agreed it came down to Mike Schmidt and Rickey Henderson, and both leaned Schmidt based on defense, but it was a toss-up. Sadly, that debate is obsolete.

Top 24 position players by rWAR. Only 5 played in the 21st century. Only 8 debuted after every team was integrated. If you're not a fan of steroids or guys who played against "plummers," then Rickey Henderson is your GOAT.

Rickey Henderson has sadly passed away. He would have turned 66 years old on Christmas Day: 1990 AL MVP 2,295 Runs (1st All-Time) 2,190 Walks (2nd All-Time) 1,406 Stolen Bases (1st All-Time) You win baseball games by scoring the most runs and no player scored more runs than Rickey. RIP

Honus Wagner and Willie Wilson rank 10th and 12th all-time in stolen bases respectively. Rickey stole more bags than Wagner and Wilson combined.

Only 174 players in MLB history played 1500 games Up-the-Middle. Of those, only 8 had 400 HR. Mays, Ripken Jr., Griffey Jr., and Mantle were first ballot Hall of Famers. Piazza and Snider are also in the Hall, just not first ballot. Beltran has scandal. And then there's Jones

That's +2!

Only 43 hitters had 400 HR and Walked in 10% of their PA. 26 HOF 8 PEDs 4 Active 5 Out Of those 43, only 6 saved 100 runs with their defense 3 HOF 1 PEDs 1 Active 1 Andruw

Every player with 200 DRS and a .200 ISO: Andruw Jones Every player with 175 DRS and a .175 ISO: Andruw Jones Adrian Beltre* Willie Mays* Carl Yastrzemski* Scott Rolen* Barry Bonds^ *HOF ^PEDs

Only 135 retired hitters played 1500 games w/ a .330 OBP & .480 SLG. Of those, only 15 had a dWAR of at least 6. Beltre, Rolen, Schmidt, Mays, Hornsby, Hatnett, Gehringer, Dickey, Berra, and Connor are HOF, A-Rod, Bonds, and Cano had PED scandals, Jones and Edmonds are snubs.

LET'S GO!!!!! Jones has his first add of the season!

Jones, Belre, and Ripken Jr. were the only players with 800 BB, 400 HR, and 20 dWAR. There were 11 players who had 800 BB, 400 HR, and 1.0 dWAR, though. Mays, Schmidt, Griffey Jr., Ripken Jr., Beltre, Mathews, and Yaz are in the HOF, Bonds, A-Rod, and Beltran have scandal, Jones is the snub.

Happy Thanksgiving! This year I'm thankful that Helton has joined Rolen and Walker in the Hall of Fame. There's just something about advanced stats darlings, who are good at offense and defense over their 17 year careers, getting in that makes me feel hopeful.

Career OBP among some players with nice gloves Ripken Jr. - .340 Beltre - .349 #AndruwHOF - .337 Ozzie - .337 Carter .335 I. Rodriguez - .334 Wallace - .332 Banks - .330 Dawson - .323 All great defenders, all but one are in the Hall

In MLB history, only 104 players made it to the "1200 RBI & 1200 R" club. Of them, 74 (or 71.2%) are in the HOF. The "1200 RBI & R, Positive dWAR" club has 40 players. Of them, 30 (or 75%) are in the HOF. The "1200 RBI & R, 10 dWAR" club has 20 players. Of them, 16 (or 80%) are in the HOF.

Once again, I had a great time chatting with @jmiloch.bsky.social about the career and Hall of Fame candidacy of Ken Boyer. Boyer is on the Classic Baseball Era right now. The ballot is incredibly competitive and he won’t get in this time. But this is absolutely a Hall of Famer.

While Jones didn't reach 2000 hits, he did have 434 HR, which ranks sixth among all players with <2000 hits. Among players with <2000 hits and a dWAR >0, he ranks first in homers, 41 ahead of Jim Edmonds in second.

And so it begins. Jones starts the year Batting 1.000. Golen voted for Jones last year as well, so we'll stay at +0 for a bit longer.

The replies to ballot #1 both on my post and the voter's original post are almost universally respectful and reasonable, even in disagreement. Can we keep that up for the next couple months? Would be awesome.

With the ballot unveiled, it's officially, "Let's Get Bobby Abreu into the Hall of Fame" season for me! Let's start with old-school numbers: Players with at least 1000 runs scored, 1000 RBI, 1000 BB, 250 HRs, 400 SBs, 500 doubles and a batting average of no less than .290: Barry Bonds. Bob Abreu.

With the recent retirements of 1st ballot Hall of Famers Albert Pujols & Miguel Cabrera, Mike Trout is the only active player with more career fWAR than Jones. Here's how much more fWAR some guys need to catch Jones: Freeman 5.9 Betts 7.3 Altuve 9.0 Goldschmidt 10.5 Lindor 12.8 Machado 13.4 (1/2)
