Leadership is doubling down, but GOP members are getting nervous about the budget’s extreme unpopularity. You can call your Representative now at 202-224-3121.

Hey, I'm going to do this, and I hope you will too. Not because I think a one day pause will be a devastating blow, but because coordinated action takes practice, and if you don't do the small stuff, you will have a harder time gearing up for the big stuff.

Teachers teach. We need a leaderful movement, and there are leaders all around us.

Call to Action: March 4 Liberty. Washington, DC and every state capitol, March 4th, 12PM - 9PM. Further announcements for the 5th to come later. Need max number of people in DC as Trump addresses congress. #3E #USprotests #March4Liberty #FiftyFiftyOne #Mar4

If you live in LA go to Union Station at 9AM to protest this criminal administration

Zelenskyy is obviously not a dictator because if he were, Trump would love him.

Is Musk demanding the data held by the Social Security Administration in order to make it more efficient? Unlikely. Here's a better explanation: www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

I understand why these stories exist but it’s important to be clear that he’s not “saving” 16 billion, he’s choosing, personally, without oversight, to wipe out 16 billion dollars of government services to veterans and the disabled and food safety etc etc

🧵"So this is how liberty dies..." Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up. I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

I spent most of today copy-pasting-tweaking code in a language I don’t even know. Is the result concise and elegant? Hell no! Does it do what I needed it to do? It sure does!

Couple of my favorites from today.

Can Americans sign this petition? We already have a Legoland. Danes launch campaign to 'buy' California from US - FOX 11 Los Angeles

I feel like we’re all starting to have some sense of what it’s like to be on a highjacked plane www.npr.org/2025/02/04/n...

These waters are uncharted, people, not unchartered. Uncharted as in unknown, unfamiliar, not yet mapped, and in this case full of snapping sea monsters and maelstroms and who knows what else.

@schiff.senate.gov @padilla.senate.gov What are you doing about this?

“We should plan for the worst. The keys to the car have been given to the polluters and fossil fuel plutocrats and they intend to drive it off the climate cliff.” - Michael Mann @michaelemann.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... #climate #science

Hillary Clinton literally lost an election for installing a private server in her own damned house.

Time for states to negotiate their own trade agreements with other states and nations. Conservatives are big on states’ rights, no?

This is a hostile takeover of the federal government by a private citizen of unlimited means with no restrictions and no transparency. Welcome to the Deep State www.reuters.com/world/us/mus...

Having watched with growing alarm the developments of the last 24 and 36 hours in Washington, I thought I’d take a stab at how the US media would cover this story if it was happening in a foreign country. Here’s that story that should be written this weekend: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/musk-s-jun...

In case you needed more evidence that this administration is actively trying to subvert democracy, the new Trump-appointee FCC Chair is trying to kill @npr.org and @pbs.org. Gift link. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/30/b...

And you voted to confirm this climate change denier @schiff.senate.gov @padilla.senate.gov

IIHS found that pickups, SUVs and vans with a hood height greater than 40" are about 45% more likely to cause deaths in pedestrian crashes than cars and other vehicles with a hood height of 30" or less and a sloping profile. Such a rule on vehicle hood height would save bicyclist lives as well.

I’m surprised you can become a giant without a spine

A very good thing you can do today is call your representatives in Washington and ask them what they are going to do to stop this wholesale looting of government. And please call, don't email. Calls are far more effective.

“Bobby has gone on to misrepresent, lie and cheat his way through life.“ Sounds like a perfect fit for this administration. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/28/h...

This is chilling

First, hooray for rain!!! Second, can anyone tell me why CalTrans is angling these new ADA curb cuts on PCH diagonally when the only pedestrian options are to continue straight across the side street or around the corner to the right. This angle seems like it would direct people out into danger.

I’d boycott Huntington Beach except that I already avoid it because of its extremely bad vibes. ktla.com/news/local-n...

New on MSNBC: Vice President Harris will fly back to Los Angeles today with an all-female U.S. Air Force crew — the first time an all-female crew has operated a C-33.   Upon landing, Harris will visit a local fire station and then distribute food to community members impacted by the wildfires.

The article vaguely mentions environmental exposure as a possible cause but personally I’m looking straight at the giant industry of mostly unregulated products women are constantly encouraged to apply, inject, or consume from an early age to look more perfect. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/16/h...

Read the comments too 🥲

I think I’m going to have to get a desk chair that doesn’t have wheels

climate disasters are our reality now. we have to stop living how we used to. this sounds really hard and big, but since editing this @ericholthaus.com piece i actually have found myself way less inclined to order stupid shit i don't need. slate.com/technology/2...

Wisdom from his many years.

I would also add that vulnerable communities that lack the infrastructure to evacuate everyone fast w/ little notice should have neighborhood fire shelters. I don’t know what these would look like but if we can send people to space without burning them up we should be able to come up w/ something.

Americans are ~2.5x more likely to die in a crash than a Canadian, ~3.5x more likely than a Spaniard, and ~5x more likely than a Japanese person. Here are a few of the articles I wrote in 2024 trying to understand why the US is uniquely terrible at road safety. 🧵

Guests on @npr.org and elsewhere using “reticent” as a fancy word for “hesitant” has been irritating me all year. I know language evolves over time, but man, the process is so unpleasant.
